Stafford Street

"Pretty Good"

I've lived in Stafford Street for 12 years. It has had its good and bad cycles and right now it's pretty good.

The many trees are really kicking on and I've recently heard bellbirds and currawongs (which is amazing given how close we are to Hoddle Street).

The crime is down on what it used to be. There seems to be more owners than renters just now and the community spirit is rising as a result.

You can't beat Abbotsford for closeness to everything. Parking can certainly be a drag and there are a few colourful characters around, but all things considered, it ain't bad at all.

If you have dogs, the Yarra linear park will blow their minds (and yours). Hats off to Parks Victoria and the various volunteer organisations for all the revegetation work they've been doing down there.

The local council is even opening Victoria Park to the public, which is a very exciting new green space.

So get a bike, start a worm farm, install a rainwater tank, bung up some solar panels and join us! You could do a LOT worse. :)
