Prince Alfred Parade

"one of the best streets"

Prince Alfred Parade is a long street, punctuated by older style houses and super duper million dollar properties. The best houses in the street are found on the point which face north(salt pan bay)One such house, known as the China mans house,or Point House sold in 2008 for 14.6 million. Those houses on the point(water front) and immediatly behind it(other side of street, elevated but not water front) have without doubt some of the best views and aspect in Pittwater.Sales along this narrow strip rarely occur!

Many of the houses face west or south in Prince Alfred and would be hot or cold, but many still have great views. If you can purchase anywhere from the point upwards you will be blessed with good capital gains and lower power bills!

Boaties living in the street can take advantage of the two clubs,or stroll to Salt Pan Bay public wharf where locals launch their dingies,or pull up, to pick up their guests.Salt Pan is a lovely sheltered bay(on windy days) with a lovely little park, suitable for picnics but not swimming. There is a small area for children(swings etc) where they can play.

The clubs have excellent facilities and the royal motor yacht club runs a free shuttle bus service for those that desire that extra glass of wine!

The nearest bus stop is opposite the arms hotel, which is walking distance from Prince Alfred, many taking the short cut to it, along Crystal bay waterfront reserve. There is also several bus stops in Newport main on Barrenjoey road. The bus service is very good, and enables those that work in the city,or indeed go to university to catch an express which can have them in the city in about 1 hour,(depending on the time of day).A weekly student ticket to sydney university(return) costs only $20.00.

There are some good restaurants in Newport. The usual mix of chinese, indian, vietnamese and Malay.A recent addition is the Brazillian restaurant, quite unique!Plus there is the usual family relaxed Pizza places, also excellent.

Whats it like to live here?Great.I used to live in Wahroonga.I have two teens, they love the bus, they love that its not full when they get on as it is in Mona Vale!I love the relaxed contant holiday feel.I love the new coles at Newport...and where else do you see people shopping in bare feet ,a bikini and a sarong!

The street has friendly people in it,parking can be a little hard some times for guests. Its not a noisy or busy street and if you are lucky to have a view....I would argue its better then a sea view...why?A sea view tends not to change much.Pittwater is a hive of activity, and changes every day. There is always some activity...races,new boats coming and going, pelicans, penguins, fisherman, sea planes, guys standing up paddling....and so on.Its a great place to live.
