Karraschs Road

"Small rustic country village by a quiet beach"

Country village starting at 1.5km uphill from a rustic quiet beach. It starts with a little foodshop, doctors/pharmacy and cafe, has a bus route along it and is home to some real friendly families.
We're starting to see younger couples move into the area as they can still buy land to design their modern boutique homes with space for their pets or small dinner party scenes.
Hervey Bay was and to a certain extent, still is known as a retirement Bay. But this isn't sustainable and more families/couples are moving up from Sydney/Melbourne and even Noosashire, looking for an affordable area to build their next dream home.

The building architecture in the area is becoming clean and modern giving that the area is attracting professional families/couples who do not wish to have the same design as all their neighbours.
It's got great potential in the coming years but here's some areas of consideration I would like to see:
1. Speeds reduced to 80km before the shopping junction of Piabla/Burrum Heads Rd and Karraschs Rd both directions.
2. Either the greasy cafe on the corner to upgrade itself to serve better dining/takeaway and coffee or a nice coffee/cake store towards the end of Sawmill Rd. (no coffee club style franchises please).
3. The main beach to be regularly racked and cleaned of washed up seaweed.
4. The quarry to come no further towards Piabla/Burrum Heads Rd and all it's trucks to depart and enter via Dundowran Road.
5. Council to amend and put in place new realistic rates until they decide to actually spend money on the local community.

Great for

  • Still land for sale around Karraschs Rd
  • On a small hill so not prone to flooding
  • Country feel yet only 5 min drive down the hill to the beach

Not great for

  • Due to open space, Burrum Rd noise seems loud but only during business hours, very quiet otherwise.
  • Lack of pavements might deter families
  • Noisy, dusty quarry behind the other end of Karraschs Rd
