Elizabeth

"A relaxed but growing city with friendly locals and all the services you need"

I've lived here for nearly ten years and have had a really positive experience. No trouble from the street and friendly neighbors who help us out when we go away by bringing our bins in, checking the mail, and keeping an eye on the house. The street is really nice lined with jacarandas that give a beautiful purple display in November and we have all underground power lines so it's very nice. It's 20 minutes to the city or beach so we have the best of both worlds. With an awesome shopping centre nearby, doctors rooms, large heated pools, library, theatre, cinema and restaurants I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

All well and good if you work there and live in some nice Eastern Suburb somewhere but otherwise It's a Hole.

Melbourne and Brisbane suburbs are a lot worse.

I grew up in multi ethnic Auckland, and spent a lot of my time in mainly "brown" South Auckland. However when I visited Elizabeth for the first time, (I have family living in Adelaide) I was genuinely shocked, I thought that parts of South Auckland were unkempt and dirty, but seemed a lot more livable than Elizabeth. To put it mildly, South Auckland could be rough and rugged at the best of times, but it had a strong sense of community. Elizabeth didn't have that same feel.
