Messiters Lane

"A tiny lane with breathtaking views sitting above Leura Cascades - no traffic!"

Messiters Lane was once the site of the old Katoomba Dairy, back when Katoomba was still known as "the Crushers".
Located at the end of Govett Street , off to the right, Messiters Lane is perched on the hillside above the Leura Cascades, though with none of the through traffic found on Cliff Drive, the Echo Point precinct, or Leura itself.
It's so peaceful.
The outlook is spectacular, and the birdlife prolific. Black cockatoos, gang gangs, powerful owls, lyre birds, crimson rosellas, kookaburrus and king parrots all have their homes here.

The original Katoomba Dairy Cottage (circa 1876) still sits there today, on a generous 910sqm block.
Two other lots have been subdivided off the original dairy alotment, one of which is now home to 'Anandadhama' (sanskrit for 'Place of Joy'), a stunning 5 bedroom mountain cottage.
Plans have been submitted to council for the build of a third (and final) residence on Messiters Lane, this one, an architect designed pole home whose 'footprint' is sensitive to both the land and skyscapes of Messiters Lane, and it's other inhabitants.

I love Messiters Lane, and am so proud to own the little slice of Katoomba history that is the original Katoomba Dairy Cottage.
