Plenty Road

"The strip after Bell St heading towards the city is AMAZING for cafes & bars"

So many cute and quirky places in this little strip. Trams drive along it so it can be noisey and bustly but it's all part of living in the inner suburbs. There's almost a trendy cafe on every corner, bars, friendly characters, great takeaway spots etc.
There's a Woolies too which is handy. It's right near the start of High St too so just keep on walking and there's the best of everything in this area of Plenty.

Preston

""South of Bell" as my parents used to say is AMAZING!"

33 yr old Professional with a love of coffee, boutique shops, dog parks and great community I LOVE Preston. After renting in Thornbury for a few years I wanted to buy local however house prices booted me out of Thornbury so chose the closest option.... Preston. Definitely the best choice. I'm South of Bell so still really close to Thornbury and it's well maintained and gorgeous. I'm just on Plenty Rd so super close to the Thornbury High St shopping precinct, but when I'm lazy there's amazing High st and Plenty Rd cafes with that hipster trendy vibe. You can't really notice the change from Thornbury to Preston until you cross over Bell St so personally wanted stay there purely as a lifestyle choice, but everywhere in Preston is great. Beautiful old houses (still with backyards too!) Close to Northland shopping, access to heaps of transport. Yep! Best choice ever.

Dundas Street

"Closest you can get to the heart of Thornbury"

I bought my house here near the high st/plenty rd intersection because it was a lot cheaper to buy here due to the postcode not being Thornbury (I'm sure that'll change very soon though, Preston's AMAZING), but the location here is still basically the best part of Thornbury as it's the border road. 3 meter walk across the rd and I'm in Thornbury. The other end of Dundas is a bit industrial, but the high st/miller st/plenty rd end is the best. Turn left or right onto High or Plenty and there's Bars, food, nightlife, trams, etc. The little Aldi area is a bit crap, rubbish and stuff on the nature strip but who cares, walk down high st from here and the cutest local creative shops, trendy (and good) coffee shops, vintage stores, the Thornbury Picture House, everything amazing. Woolies and Aldi is right there too. LOTS of amazing greyhounds and friendly dog peeps at the parks in the area in walking distance too. Quite a 'hipster' and relaxed area but lots of great people happy to have a chat with or pat their dogs.
