North Wollongong

"North Wollongong - perfect for young professionals, students and beach lovers!"

We own an investment property in North Wollongong, ca. 2 minutes walk from the beach. Due to its proximity to the CBD, the university and a free bus to the city, North Wollongong is popular among students and professionals. There is also a train station. There are a few eateries, but the immediate neighbourhood could do with a proper supermarket so residents do not have to use an expensive corner shop.

Great for

  • Close to the beach
  • Close to the University of Wollongong
  • Central to everything wollongong
  • Public transport is everywhere (trains, buses etc)
  • Safe area (never had anything stolen)

Not great for

  • Parking is a bit sparse (if you dont have a driveway)

Seaview Street

"Commission Housing"

Residential street in North Cronulla with a small (expensive) shop at one end. Ca. 15 minute walk to Woolooware Station (Cronulla station even further). A number of commission housing blocks in the street, which I heard can get noisy at night (resident statement). The street is close to the beach (ca. 10 minute walk), but a fair distance from the main shopping strip and public transport. There are mainly apartments on the Southern end of Seaview Street.

Great for

  • Relatively close to beach

Not great for

  • Commission housing
  • Can be noisy at night because of parties
  • Distance to shops, train etc.

Camden

"Camden - little England at the fringes of Sydney"

Camden is a lovely and quiet town at the fringes of Sydney. Camden hospital has an emergency department and some other facilities. There are a few public and private high schools as well as primary schools. There are also a few childcare centres in and around town. The town is located at the Nepean river and the flood plains protect it from overly keen developers. People greet each other on the street and the neighbourly spirit is fantastic. Argyle Street in the town centre is the main shopping street, where you will find shops, banks, doctors, cafes, and other facilities. An outdoor pool and a library are also found nearby on Oxley Street respectively John Street. There is also a 24 hour gym in Camden. Being one of Australia's oldest settlements Camden boasts beautiful terrace houses. Macarthur Park is a popular recreational spot and offers beautiful views across the Macarthur Region. We have been living here for a year and a half and absolutely love it.

Great for

  • Country touwn, safe, quiet, excellent infrastructure (hospital, doctors, specialists, banks, pool, gym, supermarkets, restaurants/cafes)

Not great for

  • Bit hot in summer :-)

Murrandah Avenue

"Camden - little England at the fringes of Sydney"

Murrandah is a lovely and quiet street just around the corner from Camden hospital. There's a high school at the end of the street. The street is set up on the hill with the Nepean river further down. People greet each other on the street. A 15 minute walk will take you to Argyle Street in the town centre, where you will find shops, banks, doctors, cafes, an outdoor pool and the library. There is also a 24 hour gym in Camden. Being one of Australia's oldest settlements Camden boasts beautiful terrace houses. From Murrandah Avenue a 5-10 minute walk will take you to Macarthur Park, a popular recreational spot.
