Broadford

"Lovely town, just an hour from the CBD!"

Love Broadford. It’s just over an hour from Melbourne’s CBD via car, or train.

Biggest positives are the community spirit; the peace and quiet; the convenience; and the size of the lots you can still get here.

Why do people want a 450m2 lot in a suburb when they can get a 1,000m2 lot in Broadford?

The town is growing with a ton of good quality new builds going up on the estates. Tons of established houses are being renovated and renewed as folk venture out from the city to nicer, less crowded places.

Only negative for me is the lack of a Coles, or Woolies. I suspect one will come before long.

Parkdale

"Great suburb, but..."

Love Parkdale. It’s certainly one of the better beachside suburbs close to the CBD.

We moved here 6-7 years ago and will be leaving shortly, for an acreage in the country. Its a suburb that’s changing fast, but I will miss the place.

Way too many positives to list. Special mention to the beachside walk and shops though, which are great.

To be fair in the review, I’ll mention the only two major negatives I can find. (1) the level crossing by the shops, which is scary; and (2) the growing problem of youth delinquency and teenage gangs in the area. The govt school needs to be checking attendance more. The difference between that school and the others in the area is night and day.

Don’t let either of these two put you off though. The area, especially beach-side of the railway line is beautiful.
