Just be careful about fire safety. I live round the corner in Balmoral ave, and as someone with my fingers in a lot of community pies I decided to check of the list of urban streets the Melbourne Fire Brigade rated as being 'at risk' of bushfires. Bendoran Crescent was not on this travesty of a list, despite the houses of the southern side backing on to Gresswell Forest - 52 Hectares (approx. 700 metres squared) of mature eucalypts - despite the fact that some of the streets on the northern side were. The MFB are currently updating this list - I found more than 90 mistakes and omissions within a 5km radius - and I advise anyone in the area to keep and on their website: http://www.mfb.vic.gov.au/Community-Safety/Urban-Bushfire.html

That said, despite moving to the area years ago while I studied at Latrobe University, Gresswell Forest (zoned to Macleod) is the greatest attraction for me in this area. If you like birds, possums, kangaroos etc, you'll love Gresswell and the Habitat Link ... which joins the forest to the Latrobe Uni Wildlife Reserve.
