Box Hill

"Friendly and very liveable"

I grew up in this area, moved out to a 'flashier' suburb for many years, and have now come back. People are just friendlier here, and have welcomed us instantly. I can be working in my garden and people who I don't even know will stop to chat, which I never experienced living in my previous suburb (I don't think I was the 'right' kind of person for the locals!). I'm now a short walk from most things I need, with a full choice of public transport options. My (older) kids love the location, and how close we are to shops, parks, transport etc. Period houses, abound, particularly Californian Bungalows, and they can still be affordable. House block sizes in this area can also be quite large. We were able to get far more house for our money by moving here, with an increase in amenity, neighbourliness, and convenience to boot.

Great for

  • Convenient
  • Friendly
  • Dining options.
  • Shopping
  • Transport

Not great for

  • Developers pulling down old houses with character and replacing them with ugly units and apartments

Who lives here?

  • Professionals
  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Students
