King St

"A convenient place to live but extremely noisy"

King St Newtown is one of Sydney's famous strips. However the constant traffic the loud drunks and the ever lurking parking rangers make this street busier then hell and somewhat annoying. Bikes travel along footpaths with abandon recklesness. Vagrants and charities constantly harrassing you for money. Little or no room on footpaths especially wekends and accept the crime rate. (I know a chemist that has been robbed 6 times) But if you can deal with all that and understand its basically a University suburb then you might survive the mayhem that is King St.

Nice honest review kungfukid! I don't think I would want to live here, considering the noise and crime.

You mentioned nightlife is good though (which is what you would expect of a uni suburb), what are some of the good bars and clubs in the area?

The Marly Bar (Marlborough Hotel), Culetos cocktail Bar, Zanzibar and about another 3-4 pubs . The Culetos frequented by RPA staff especially Happy Hour. Mixed crowd at the Marly with upstairs downstairs. The Newtown (for the gay crowd). The Townie for the rough and ready:)
