Berwick

"Traditional English Style Town - One of the Largest Towns in Victoria"

Established in 1848, and now with a population of over 36,000, it is one of Melbourne's largest towns and has grown substantially over the last 15 years.

It has retained a lot of it's leafy english town/village feel with the quaint shopping strip that runs through the town. Many nice restaurants have popped up over the last few years.

Even with the bypass freeway built a few years back, it is still a very busy town.

Most sought after is the "Olde Berwick" area, north of the main highway - which is very leafy and established part of Berwick. The next established area is the Timbarra area and the Bomber's estate (yes! an estate named after Essendon players of the 80's - wouldn't you just love to live on Van Der Haar crescent?)

South of the highway past the township near Haileybury college is also a sought after area (now over 10 years+) and very well constructed estate. Edrington Park Drive used to be famous for Christmas Lights throughout street (not sure if it is still the case today)

The most growth is now far south around Grieves Road, Centre Road, Soldiers Road etc heading towards Narre Warren and Cranbourne - numerous estates and hundreds of houses constructed over the last 10 years, and the council have struggled to keep infrastructure up with the growth (hence the roadworks/duplications occuring all a little too late).

However everything is close by in Berwick. Many many sporting clubs all represented, many shopping centres, and close to the city via Monash or Eastlink.

Palmerston Street

"One of the most sought after streets in Berwick"

In the middle of Olde Berwick, this and surrounding streets (including Elgin St) are very sought after in Berwick. Houses tend to get snapped up pretty quickly.

Very leafy street and quiet (doesnt have the same traffic as Brisbane Street), encapsulates the english village feel.

Great location - walking distance to Berwick High Street - many restaurants have popped up over the last 5 years. Monsash freeway, Fountain Gate all less than 10 minute drive.

Houses are quite old - 30 - 50 years old, and generally have a lot of character.

Many parks in walking distance - the newly created Pioneer Park (with coffee shop) on the old school site, and many footy clubs / ovals close by.

Brisbane Street

"In The Heart of Olde Berwick"

Brisbane Street is in the heart of Olde Berwick, but has become a main road through this area. Most of the blocks are the large 1/4 acre in size, and this has led to a lot of townhouse developments in this street, as older properties are knocked down, townhouses will be developed. However, we are talking about the top of the range luxury townhouses that are being built.

This is a busy road despite the speed humps.

Definitely true about development's being high end around Olde Berwick. A recent duplex development has been listed at $2.2m per home! They have also introduced new legislation dictating that no subdivision within the Berwick Hoddle grid can be under 600m2 which is great for preserving quality and preventing greedy developers from trying to squeeze every cent they can out of a block.

Ernst Wanke Road

"Cuts Through Many Casey Suburbs"

Originally a quiet street, has since become very busy since it has become a major exit/entry on the Monash Freeway - this is now like a major ring road linking Princes Highway, Monash Freeway, Narre Warren North through to Berwick. Mary McKillop Catholic Primary School is on this street (and Timbarra Primary School not far off) as is Parkhill Plaza Shopping Centre in Berwick.

Looks like the shire are expecting further expansion in the future for a divided road.

Very central to everything though - shops, schools, freeways, and all the main towns in the area - Narre Warren, Narre Warren North, Berwick, and Harkway and Hallam all run off this road at some point.

Parkhill Plaza is a well established shopping centre - supermarket, medical centre, chemist, bakery, florist, discount store, very nice bistro, numerous cafes.

Memorial Drive

"Beautiful Tree Lined Street"

One of the original streets of Narre Warren North, the old trees arch and join over the road, making it a pleasant stroll. Very quaint street with a lot of history.

Anzac memorial halfway up the street, with 2 parks at the end (one is being constructed, the other is well established - was used for Carols). Girl guides/boy scouts are also on this road.

Working against this street are the buses which use the road frequently (this is on the main bus route for schools and local transport), and it can sometimes be a busy street. However very convenient for kids as the bus stop is at both ends of the street.

5 minute walk to the IGA shopping center (bakery, supermarket and newsagent / postoffice).

Tennis courts, schools, all nearby.

Kallara Crescent

"Quiet street - nice views"

We were originally looking at blocks on this street, before we decided to move further up to the Aranmore Estate.

Very high blocks, steep driveways. Excellent views from some of the blocks. Quiet crescent running off Kurrajong Road.

As with most of the high blocks in Narre Warren North, watch out for granite/rocks below the surface.

Brundrett Road

"Home of the original Rose Farm...."

Brundrett Road was the original home to the Brundretts Rose Farm, which was one of Australia's oldest established rose nursery, having formed in 1893. They shut down the farm a couple of years ago and the area was subdivided hence the name of the streets.

Partly dirt road, the road was extended as part of the Aranmore Estate development, and now extends all of the way to Crawley Road / Robinsons Road to Harkaway.

These new blocks at the top end of Brundrett Road (and backing onto Kurll Park) are very high steep blocks (1 acre) with some amazing views.

When the Aranmore estate was first launched 10 years ago, the price of blocks were around $87K, now returning $400K plus for vacant blocks.

Be sure to check for granite beneath the surface if you are looking to build. Also be aware that powerlines run the length of Brundrett Road (but not the new part). Also part of Brundrett Road is still unsealed.

Also a new estate off Brundrett Road (the flat part) was recently made available - Tara Park.

Some older properties (20 years +) run alongside Brundrett Road and Harries Court.

Crawley Road

"Good mix of suburbia and country"

All of the blocks in this estate (the original Aranmore Estate) are between 1/2 acres and 1 acre. Used to be a blocked road, but now runs through between Narre North Road and Robinsons Road (making a great short cut via back way to Berwick township).

The street and estate are about 10 years old. Pony club on the corner. Large dam ("Aranmore Lake") at one end, begging to be made into proper parkland (at the moment it's fenced off, but hopefully when the last few blocks sell on the new Brundett Road extension, the land will be handed to council and turned into something good).

Robinson Road end of Crawley Road (past the lake) are very high steep blocks with great views, however the majority of blocks up to this point are flat rectangular blocks.

Some really nice houses have been built here, some amazing places are being constructed down the Robinson Road end.

Very close to Monash Freeway (less than 10 minutes, choice of 4 entries), so 30min to the City (weekend), 45-1hr peak. Eastlink is also close and a good alternative route to the City.

Many shopping centres - Local IGA, Parkhill Plaza in Berwick, Berwick High Street, Fountain Gate, and Endeavour Hills.

Rabbits roam freely in this estate, you will always see them at night.

Narre Warren North

"Best of both worlds - country living only 30min from city"

Majority of the estates in Narre Warren North are 1/2 acre - 1 acre blocks. Surrounding suburbs of Narre Warren East and Harkaway are very much country style with limited development, so you can assured the country aspect of Narre Warren North will remain.

Only 30 minutes (on a good day) to the city via the Monash Freeway (45 - 1hr in peak, although the additional lanes on the Monash might reduce this).

5 minute drive to Berwick township, and Fountain Gate shopping centre also very close. Local IGA shopping centre recently opened (small supermarket, bakery, newsagent, post office - replaced the general store!). New park is being built next to it. Also high park - Krull Park on Robinsons Road with views to the city.

Huge new Pet hospital also on the corner of Heatherton & Narre North Road with good facilities (WoofPurrNey). Petrol station directly opposite is 24 hours.

Cleveland Close

"Nice Quiet Street - developing into an archway of trees"

Very quiet street, the quality tree's that line the footpath (planted 10 years ago) are forming nicely into a nice arches (very much like Memorial Drive in the same suburb). All blocks in the street are 1/2 acre, generally large quality homes. A lot of walking tracks throughout the estate.

All the major buslines for local and schools run along Narre North Road, and there are two 4 nearby Monash Freeway on ramps (Narre North Road, Ernst Wanke Road, Belgrave-Hallam road, and Heatherton Road), so access to the City is good.

Three shopping centres all within 10 minute drive - Fountain Gate, Endeavour Hills, and the local center IGA.
