"Quiet Street yet Central to transport links to City and close to dozens of restaurants"
Beet Street was named after one of the first school princpals back in the late 1800's of the nearby Coorparoo Primary School. This rear grounds of the school back onto Halsted Street and it is here where the t-junction of Beet Street begins.
Beet Street is relatively quiet with the majority (if you can call it that much) of the traffic passing through either before school and after school as mothers stop by to pick their children up. On some days also, there are short term parked cars in the street from functions being held at the Queen Alexandria House next to the school and the TAFE college attached to the same grounds.
The summer months do tend to see an increase in aircraft movements above Beet Street causing some noisy mornings/late evenings, however aircraft spotters would love this location as the planes glide over the top of this inner-city suburb bound for the Brisbane airport.
The street is in good repair with both kerb and chanelling in good condition. A combination of both a few remaining houses on large blocks and 8 pack unit developments, most people tend to keep to themselves in Beet Street.
The street is clean and free from litter and most yards/gardens are neat and tidy. There is no graffiti to report and as Beet Street is elevated, will never encounter any flooding issues.
A short walk away to Old Cleveland Road (200 mtrs) provides direct bus access to Express City Buses, Buses to the Qld Uni at St Lucia via the new Elenanor Schonell Bridge, Buses to Carindale Shopping Centre and Vieola Buses to Capalaba, Victoria Point and Cleveland with connections to Barges/Ferries to the Moreton Bay Islands - Russell, Macleay, Stradbroke etc. Buses from Cavendish Road (100 mts) also provide services to Garden City Shopping Centre and Fortitude Valley. The train station is approximately 1km from Beet Street and whilst within comfortable walking distance, is not generally needed as the area is serviced exceptionally well by the bus services already mentioned.
Within 1km of Beet Street are about three dining strips. These are the Martha Street restaurants of Camp Hill, the Holdsworth/Kitchener Street restaurants behind the old Myer store and the Cavendish Road restaurants near Loretto secondary college.
