close to the station and parks. Quiet aside from some hoons on Leis parade. Regularly see koalas and other wildlife. Mostly people are very friendly and neighbourly,

Lawnton

"Quiet and friendly,"

We have lived in Lawnton for 3 years. We used to live near Brisbane city and prior to that Sydney. In Sydney it is normal to travel over an hour to work and as we were used to this we bought further out in Brisbane due to it's affordability.

It may be different in other streets but we know several of our neighbours and know our next door neighbours especially well. We all keep an eye on each others properties.

Trains are almost always on time. Buses are readily available to get to the local shops and areas, to chermside and some go to the city. We live 15km further out than we used to but we get to work more reliably now than we did then. It is 36min by train, less if you get an express train. You always get a seat on the way there but the way back it's a different story. As the journey progresses you end up with a seat.

We moved here because it was leafy and green. We have several great parks at Lawnton, strathpine and petrie and that arent over-used. Some days you can go to a massive park and be one of only a handful of people there. There is a boat ramp at the border of Lawnton and Petrie.

If you are into home renovations and DIY you rarely have to go further than 5 minutes up the road for supplies.

Not a lot of different dining experiences. Have to travel if you want something other than kfc, mc'donalds, chinese etc.

there is a local cinema at strathpine, doesnt show all movies but if there is something it doesnt have chermside is 15-20 minutes away.

Westfield strathpine is great for all your basics. Has big w and target but no myer. But North lakes is ten minutes north and there is chermside too ( if you want to brave it!).
I never have a problem parking at strathpine.

Don't have kids but according to neighbours and colleagues many schools get the thumbs up.
Mother duck childcare at lawnton apparently wins awards all the time.

Local dog grooming salon is 2 minutes down the road.

Hoons used to be more of a problem in our first twelve months but now episodes are few and far beteween.

When we outgrow this house we want to stay local. It is a great area. Still has pockets of housing commission but when we bought in 2006 the government was gradually moving people on. The plan is to have no more than 10% housing commission in any one street (or so we were told).

The area is changing a lot. It seems rentals are being sold and more home-owners moving in. I think this is having a positive effect on the area.

I wouldnt want to live in every street in Lawnton but I will be sad the day I have to leave ours!
