Ashfield Parade

"Location on the river with lots of birdlife"

Ashfield Parade is a small street with about 25 houses which is not a thoroughfare for traffic. There are about 60 different species of birds being woodducks, mountain ducks, lorrikeets, 28's, red and black tailed cockatoos, white cockatoos, cuckoo shrikes, magpies, willy-wagtails, doves, pigeons, seagulls, terns, egrets, storks, spoonbills, pelicans, cormorants, honeyeaters, crows, hawks, occasional black swans to name some. On 9/1/12 we saw a pod of 5 dolphins swimming fishing on the river. Dophins are sighted a few times each year & we race across to watch them. We see the ferries go past on their way to the swan brewery, the canoests and rowers training and relaxing. There is a little beach opposite our house so a spot where we take our dog for a swim. We have quiet views of Garvey Park and the Darling range so we don't see any other houses at all opposite us. We go canoeing on the river and have picnics downstream. If you have a boat you can launch it around the corner from the boat launch in the park. We love to go to Swan Valley wineries for lunch, the feral brewery for a beer & tasting plate, the queens pub in highgate or the rose & crown in guildford. We love to go to the Ascot races and we go early & park in a quiet spot & walk the rest. We find it really convenient for the airport about 10 mins away so cheap by taxi, without the noise of it. Takes 15 mins to go to perth & 10 mins to Mt Lawley. If we need to get onto Tonkin or Leach Hwy it is about 5 mins away. It has been our best experience living in Perth & has many wonderful memories for us.
