Cherrybrook

"Nice - but peakhour traffic"

Cherrybrook is a nice area, with a great... but busy, shopping village... sometimes impossible to get into. The major negative I would is the traffic, especially peak hour, it's really bad. try to get to the edges of cherrybrook closer to P/hills rd. morning traffic on Newline rd, boundary rd is terrible, it can take 30mins to just get out to the M2. Having said that... great if you work west like Bella Vista.

"WPH - great for families"

I have lived in WPH for 6 yrs, You need to recognise there are different 'sides' to WPH. 'The Valley', as it is know is newest with big, pretty properties on smaller blocks, but suffers the same traffic issues for commuters as Cherrybrook, there are older areas of WPH mentioned below, that I think are under-recognised and avoid the traffic. Generally the traffic in Cherrybrook and WPH area is a shocker in peak hour, so if you need to commute by car, avoid having to travel along new line rd, highs or Aiken rd. But in WPH there are pockets that totally avoid the traffic problem if you know where to look... 1) around boyd ave at the back of thompsons cnr, 2) eaton rd/range rd end 3) anne william and timberline drive area. In 2005 we were looking at Cherrybrook, but then found and bought in the Eaton/Range Rd pocket. It's a great quiet area, with NO through traffic, wide avenue streets, a big reserve and playground, very good for families like us, larger blocks, and safe low traffic streets. From there you can short drive or even walk to the M2 bus-stop... the best commute EVER, no stops from here to CBD, and ALL Hills buses stop at the oakes rd bus-stop! Short drive to North rocks, Carlingford shopping centres. In Murray Farm Public school zone. WPH generally is great for families with access to parks, forests, sport fields and shopping, you do need to know where in WPH you are looking if concerned about commuter traffic though, but I think those older areas are excellent for family living and can avoid the traffic issues.
