Child Street

"Couldn't have better neighbours anywhere!!"

I bought my house because of the lovely outlook from the hill - and I still enjoy it after nearly 8 years - but the street also has given me the best neighbours! There are many people who have lived in this street for over 30 years, people who have bought a house here to retire in - and the landlords moved in next door to me.

I was living alone when I first bought my house and my neighbour was like a flatmate who had her own house. She was breeding Burmese cats and when I was feeling lonely I would go next door for Burmese kitten therapy! It is hard to feel sorry for yourself when you are covered in Burmese kittens.

The older people who have lived in the street their whole married life made me feel very welcome. I had help from people when I needed a hand with things to do with the house.

My neighbours have been wonderful when I have had to visit family in Sydney - my cat has always been looked after - one neighbour sent me a text when I left my garage door open and closed it for me - an awning was tied down when it was in danger of breaking in high winds...

It is quite a funny thing that everyone that I know who has moved out of the street has only done so because they wanted to live on a large acreage property.

I think Child St is definitely the best street in Riverview. The views from the Child St hill of Mount Crosby are magnificent - particularly in the morning when there is mist over the river.

Riverview

""The friendliest suburb I've ever lived in!""

I've lived in Child St in Riverview for over 7 years and I've never lived in a friendlier street in my life. Riverview in general is one of the only areas that you will regularly see neighbours chatting to each other over the fence.

For the first 4 years after I bought my house here I was single. (I'm engaged now :) Living as a single female in most outer suburbs would be very lonely - but I have always had lovely neighbours around.

Quite a few people that live in my street and who I've met in the suburb - bought their houses to retire here! Riverview is the best kept secret in Brisbane.

Redbank Shopping Centre which is just down the road is also very friendly and has specialty shops that you wouldn't nessesarily expect in an outer suburb like Chinese Massage and Acupuncture and a Day Spa!
