Frankston

"Not for Students...trust me I know"

Unsafe and dangerous at night time, avoid beach at night times unless you want to be attack by drunk males. Never go anywhere alone, especially if your a girl. People need to be careful, i've had one too many bad experiences, tried to study here but my and my friends were continuously harassed.

Never wants to return here again!

Great for

  • Parks, beaches & facilities

Not great for

  • If you like to get stabbed
  • Getting harassed
  • Dangerous!!
  • Station at night
  • More police needed - ecspecially after school, near Frankston train station. Too many undesirables loitering.
  • People's misconceptions

Having knowledge well beyond your limited exposure to what life sets upon us, I feel it necessary to inform you, that the experiences you described would have wholly been derived though poor decision making on your part. Being 50 years of age and having raised a family here, neither me, my wife , nor my 5 children ever experienced what you so diligently and publicly portray. I have always raised my children to understand that there are consequences for your own actions in every scenario and what you experience is of your own making. I further encourage my children to accept responsibility and not blame others for their predicaments. You cloud a whole suburb because you are incapable of making the right decisions.

While it's true that we don't know the entire situation surrounding her experience, I think it's rather dismissive to say they were entirely derived from poor decision making on her part. I understand that a lot of the stigma surrounding Frankston is based on people's misconceptions but that is no reason to devalue her opinion or hold her accountable for promoting an unfavourable view of your suburb

It's always useful to hear about people's experiences and how that impacts upon their view of a particular location. That being said, it's almost impossible to support the claims through evidence, police statistics amongst much statistical data. The reality is that those "undesirables" at school times....they are students from a number of schools....teenagers......,loud and messy from my experience raising them.
Stabbed?? Was this reported? At what location did the stabbing happen? Yes there are always improvements to be made...here and in any city or suburb, if you are simply perpetuating myths, rolling out the same old stuff then maybe you may attract some questions about the validity of your statements.

Sauly, what you have just done is known as victim-blaming, and is never appropriate. Being a young female student is no excuse for the poor and dangerous behaviour of others. Everyone has the right to feel safe. Your years of experience are clearly tainted by your sense of entitlement and perpetuate a harmful culture. Shame on you.

Dandenong

"Best Value for money in the South east area"

If your looking for a cheap home which offers excellent value for your money, than look no further than Dandenong. It has everything at your foot step, and if your moving from a new location, it's quiet easy to fit in. Very multicultural area, and there's always something going on around the area. Shopping mall, train station, park and a market all within walking distance from each other. Even a new city being built with more restaurants and cafes, soon you wont even need to own a car cause you'll have almost everything within your foot step. Loving this place, cost of living is extremely cheap and rent is very low compared to everywhere at the moment.

You've probably heard Dandenong has a bad reputation, it was once upon a time true, but there has been heaps of positive improvements, however this is likely to diminish once the town is rebuilt and prices are too expensive for the lower-socio economic population of Dandenong to move out (probably to Pakenham or Cranbroune). Overall Dandenong is not half as bad as what people say. Most negative comments come from people who have only heard stories and never actually been there. I've lived here almost my entire life and just don't get why people think it's so unsafe, I mean nothing has ever happen to me and I'm never afraid. People still have a negative image of the suburb, which is fair enough, but i think that's the past and people really should come visit the area before they go and make any incorrect statements.

Great for

  • Very Affordable for young first homers (can buy a decent property)
  • Better location than Pakenham and Cranny
  • Unrivalled infrastructure
  • Great rental prices
  • Close to Shops, market, parks, station and employment.
  • Great value for money (still)
  • Shopping

Not great for

  • Still has a bad repuation
  • Alot of construction works happening
  • Only a couple of places to go out, which are pubs

Who lives here?

  • Singles
  • Families with kids
  • Retirees

I think you might be trying to increase Dandenong's score Young Investor. Unfortunately once anyone goes there they will realise it's cheap for a reason. Better to head towards the city or the bay.
