Atlantic Road

"Great Street close to all facilities"

Settled in the middle of the Waterford Estate, Atlantic Road has some very lovely large homes on large blocks, with green leafy parks all around. The streets are generally safe (yes there are a few "idiots" that go a bit too fast at times but is normal anywhere), with families taking walks and people generally just taking things in. Most people "know" each other and usually wave as they pass on the street. Many of the children go to the local schools, the closest being St Francis de Sales and is a short 3 minute drive to the centre of town. Although not a "perfect" street, it is pretty darn close in our 7 years here.

My biggest gripe is the way the council is now looking after the parks! They mow the parks on the hottest or wettest days which kills the grass, leave the lawn clippings in piles as they go, and poison back the grass on the curb edges instead of using a trimmer.... sometimes I wonder what our rates are really being used for, or has the council employed the wrong people to do the job as they dont give a damn! One of the best things about driving in to the estate IS the parks... a little more care is needed by the people paid to look after it!

Still, a great area to bring up your kids or if you crave a little extra space around your home!

Great for

  • Quiet area with large, leafy parks
  • Nice homes on good sized blocks
  • Great resale

Not great for

  • "Lazy" parks gardeners
  • No ADSL2+... only ASDL

Who lives here?

  • Families with kids
  • Retirees
  • Country Lovers
  • Trendy & Stylish

Hi. I'm not sure how old the comments are but my husband and I are looking to move to Mount Barker the middle of next year and commute into adelaide each day. Is the traffic very bad or better than it was? How long would a morning drive into the city take? Thank you in advance!
