I like Harold Holt Swim Centre in Glen Iris as it gives you the option of an indoor or outdoor pool & it only costs $6.90 per adult and $5.30 per child for entry http://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/Discover/Harold-Holt-Swim-Centre.

I really like the chilled out vibe at the outdoor Fitzroy pool. The pool is 50m. Adult entry is $6.50 and kids are $3.30 http://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/Services/Yarra-Leisure/Fitzroy-Swimming-Pool/.

As a kid I loved taking trips to Dandenong Oasis for parties. They have a waterslide and a kids fun pool http://www.dandenongoasis.com.au/.

Casey Arc in Narre Warren is good for serious swimmers and for fun. They have a wave pool and a 50m lap pool. Adult swims are $8.9 and children are $6.90 http://www.caseyarc.ymca.org.au/.

For public pools to take the kids to I'd recommend:
1. Fun Fields water theme park in Whittlesea (about an hour from Melbourne) has 20+ water activities, 5 waterslides, a toddler paddle pool, rides, mini golf and go karts.

2. WaterMarc in Greeensborough. They have a massive waterslide, pool inflatables and an adventure playground.

Pools for adults to chill out at I'd recommend:

1. Prahran Aquatic Centre has a 50m outdoor pool, a sunbathing deck & even have DJs on Sundays, pool parties and BBQs in the summer.

2. Brighton Baths is a 50m ocean pool. Best of all you can drop into The Baths restaurant for brunch, lunch or dinner after your dip.

Aquanation in Ringwood is a great one - 50 m pool, swimming lessons, gym and group classes. Lots of fun for kids in the aquatics playground and waterslides!
