Reviews of Willoughby, NSW

"Leafy & a quick shoot into the city"

Willoughby is a nice and quiet, yet convenient and perfectly connected suburb. We’ve really enjoyed living here and how easy getting to everywhere is! Whether that’s the city or other local surrounding hubs, e.g. Crows Nest / Chatswood

"When you move to Willoughby you won’t be disappointed - strong community culture and warm embrace of residents"

Willoughby is one of the most desired and exclusive family suburbs in Northern Sydney. Renowned for its classic Californian-Bungalow architecture and relatively flat topography it offers todays residents a vibrant community lifestyle with bustling restaurants, cafes, fashion boutiques and sports parks.

Local schools in Willoughby are leading the field in academic ratings and placements at Willoughby Public, Willoughby Girls and St Thomas Catholic Primary are highly sought-after.

Express transport options throughout the area afford Willoughby the luxury of easy access to Sydney’s CBD, Northern Beaches, local Business Parks and a world-renowned shopping precinct in near-by Chatswood. Over the past few years Willoughby has attracted families from near and far and today incorporates a diverse array of nationalities who all enjoy and add to the inclusive and progressive community culture.

"Getting full of itself."

Ive lived in Willoughby my whole life, I am now 26 and I have witnessed this suburb grow more and more full of itself. As a kid growing up in the 1990s, it wasn't really that fashionable to live here - there were hardly any cafes or shops, my school was very small in numbers, and i recall a large elderly population, but now it is full of young, hip, trendy families, and people who take themselves very seriously. Everyone here is concerned with looks and impressions. Its definitely safe at night, there are a couple of really great cafes, and it is located within great proximity to the city, but unfortunately it is now inhabited with an increasing amount of wankers. I also hear that the two primary schools are at max capacity, a huge change from when I was a child.

Great for

  • Close to City
  • Lifestyle
  • Shops
  • Great cafés
  • Stylish people

Not great for

  • Wankers
  • Can be crowded
  • Could do with a few more cafes
  • Smaller blocks

"Children's haven"

We moved here from Crows Nest 12 months ago. Slightly less community oriented, but much better for children - safe and with a lot of open area in which they can play

"Beautiful part of the Lower North Shore"

Willoughby is a beautiful peaceful suburb 8-10minutes north of the CBD. The people here are mostly well dressed Audi drivers with children. Willoughby has a great sense of community, fantastic parks and nature reserves, Sydney's best leisure centre and plenty of fantastic restaurants and cafs. Willoughby is definitely Sydney's best suburb. The CBD is less than 10 minutes away, Crows Nest is 6 minutes and Chatswood city is right next door. Beaches at Mosman are only a short drive away as well. Willoughby has it all.

"Getting Very Expensive"

Willoughby has a lot going for it easy access to the city via the Warrigah Freeway, schools, busses, pleasant shopping strip, great pub. Sadly though the big blocks on which most of the homes here are built make home prices out of the reach of many. Another black spot is the massive television transmission tower of the Channel 9 studios, which dominates the view of many homes.
