Reviews of Young Street, Petrie
"Nice tree lined street accessible to schools and child care"
Young street is an early Petrie street containing a few original farm houses (little known). The mix of housing is quite varied and includes traditional queenslanders/post war homes/brick veneer/high density units. Highlights of the street are the restored queenslanders, the sandstone homestead and the gorgeous jacaranda trees that line the border of Petrie state school. Young street also provides mixed use from residential homes to churches, the Petrie fire station, funeral home and a car dealership. Unfortunatelty the things that make this street good, access to schools, child care and access to public transport also provide its negative - during the school rush, the street is extremely busy and parking is difficult. Often you will find parents parked across residents driveways causing inconvenience. The street does also attract the occasional hoon driver and there have been a couple of very serious high speed accidents. Aside from this, it really is a nice street, it is quiet when off peak and the murmur of children playing at school during their lunch break is nice. This street is perfect for anyone without a car! It's a short walk to woollies and the train and bus stops. housing is still affordable and good value can be found.
