Best Suburb in Sydney is Hunters Hill

We have it all, schools Joes for boys and Marrist Sisters for girls, restaurants, cafes, retirement living, marinas, ferries, properties from 400k to 40 million dollars, buses, heritage area, envy from people who don't live there, churches, 10 minutes to the CBD or if you are really smart open your office in Gladesville and walk to work, nice people with a safe and friendly environment. . I lived in Balmain for 15 years before I came to Hunters Hill which is the best move I ever made there is no better suburb to live in my humble opinion.

What are average prices like in Hunters Hill? What's the top end look like? I have driven through a number of times and wondered what it might cost to live there.

Average price is about $1.5M at the moment, but that takes in the whole suburb. At the top end, for a really good sized family home (non waterfront) on the peninsular you are looking at $3M plus. The amazing waterfront estates at more like $8-12M. But that is still good value compared to the east & Mosman.
As for the NO BEACH, Woolwich Baths has a small sandy area and enclosed bathing area. So if you are looking for somewhere for the toddlers to play & cool off, it fits the bill. Pity about the 50 steps to get to it!!

Well Hunters Hill and Woolwich are listed in the top 10 most expensive suburbs in Australia and that in itself says a lot. Hunters Hill grows at a rate of 10.4% per year since 1930 so owning a home here is like money growing in your bank account.

As a resident with twin girls who attend Marrist Sisters College I can only say that as a family area it is tops. There are beautiful restaurants, shops and parks and not to mention views of the city skyline and harbor bridge which is not possible in beach suburbs.

Well what does the term 'best' mean? Are we talking about increases in average house prices? Proximity to schools? Happiness of the people living in the burbs? Don't get me wrong, I have my own favourites, but they are very much biased on what I know and what I'm used to. I live by the beach now, and I will find it very hard to move away, and therefore my opinion is biased towards beach. BUT I never used to think about the beach being a factor before I moved.

What makes a 'best' suburb for me? Proximity to my friends, proximity to CBD and now...proximity to the Beach :)

SO AdamCentury21? Why is Dolls Point better ;P

Love to hear people's thought on this.

Well AJ ! to be honest with you the comment was aimed at a little real estate rivalry we have here in Sydney and I might have been a little cheeky with that comment, but I do not shy away from it and I’m glad you asked!....Here Are my top 10 reasons...but there are more.

1/ You’ll like this one mate we are a beach side suburb! Actually we have 3 beaches...Hunters Hill...NONE!
2/ Dolls Point is a sleepy village style suburb with W__I__D__E open parklands in fact parts of our area are like bush I sold a house recently with a 1000 s.qm block of land that was located at the end of a cul de sac street and next to this property was Heritage listed wetlands that include wildlife , old gum trees (Many)
And grass paddocks as far as the eye can see.. I should also mention that you can walk to the fabulous sparking blue water beach in 5 minutes from this property!..How much you ask? well you could have owned this one for $755,000 (Fully Renovated)
3/ We are a 15 minute drive from Sydney international Airport and 20min to Sydney C.B.D!
4/ It’s not all quiet down here... ever heard of Cronulla...Another Beach!!! Well its only 1 or 2 suburbs away
5/ Brighton –Le – Sands yes trendy and cosmopolitan Brighton you can walk there!!
6/ Would you prefer a water front property with your own private jetty to launch your boat from OR would you prefer a beach front home, where the golden sands meet with your front fence? Well We’ve got em both!
7/ PRICES!!! Haha you can buy a modest home down here only 1 street back from the beach with 3 bedrooms lock up garage and all the rest for about $700,000 BEAT THAT HUNTERS HILL!!!
8/ Cafes, Restaurants, Pubs, Transport, Quality schools , all at your door step...oh wait that’s more than one I’ll have to stop cheating
9/ Dolls Point has only ONE new unit development, the area has remained uncluttered and free of unit block upon unit block and house upon house that the rest of Sydney seems to have fallen victim to.
10/ And lucky last for today... Dolls Point Is home to Peter Deepena Reserve. An amazing picnic grounds that sit with the beach as its back drop, people travel from all across Sydney to visit especially on weekends to have b.b.qs and enjoy the amazing facility’s as you eat your b.b.q lunch there are all kinds of water sports going on in the back ground, wind sailing, Para sailing, kite boarding etc...
