Looking for a home in Avoca Beach?

"Paradise"

I grew up around this area but not in Avoca. It is hard to come up with very many negatives about this place or any of the beachside suburbs near here.
It's hilly and you really have to drive everywhere but it's not far at all to everything. It puzzles me a little bit that Avoca is described as Greater Sydney on this website since it belongs to the Gosford shire and is 40 minutes drive to the nearest suburb of sydney.
If you can afford to buy and live here, i am a bit jealous. Check it out yourself.

Not great for

  • Hilly (for want of a negative)

How is it to commute from Avoca Beach to the city a few days a week? Is it really busy on the roads?

I have the same question but would commute every day to CBD. Currently, rent in Wollstonecraft. A small 2 bedroom here would buy a nice small house in and around Avoca. Hope somebody can comment

Hi- I dont do the CBD commute from Avoca. I hear train is not too bad - about an hour. In my opinion the ideal would be to telecommute part of the week. If you are in Wollstonecraft now your commute is pretty easy and short in comparison to commuting from Central Coast.

The commute from Avoca to the CBD would be pretty horrible. Once you get to Gosford the trains are very frequent during rush hour. Its probably 35 Mins to get to the Freeway and then between 1 and 2 hours to the CBD.

"A beautiful beachside suburb with everything you need at your fingertips."

Avoca Beach is one of the many central coast beaches that also has a lagoon behind the beach. As you come into Avoca you cross a bridge over the lagoon and wind your way through the Norfolk Island palms and into the small shopping centre with a good selection of cafes and restaurants,as well as a boutique butcher, various fashion stores and others.
Adjacent to the shops is the local sports field and tennis courts.
Avoca Beach is a one road in and one road out of town place so for most of the year it is very quiet.
It's a very friendly place and one of the first things I noticed as I walked my dog on the beach was people stopped to say hello. Particularly if they also have a dog.It is one of those lucky beaches that allow dog walking in a certain section of the beach( please pick up your dog poos)
Bird life is everywhere and there are lots of nice walks to be done around the coastline. There is also a fantastic new surf club at the southern end of the beach with a great childrens playground behind it and some nice cafes as well.
The primary school has a super reputation and it is a real family friendly suburb.
There can be some traffic problems heading north towards Terrigal in the mornings around school time but apart from then getting around is pretty easy and Erina Fair shopping centre is only a 10 minute drive away.

"A Fantastic Place to Live, Work and Play"

I am one of the fortunate few who get to live, work and play in Avoca Beach! It truly has everything. A gorgeous beach, quiet family living, leafy surrounds, a great primary school, restaurants & shopping. I am a Real Estate agent at Property Central in Terrigal selling houses in the beachside suburbs around Terrigal and Avoca. I chose to live here because I love it. My family have had holiday houses in the area since before I was born. I grew up in Sydney then went to live overseas for 14 years. When it came time to come home I made the choice to live on the Coast rather than Sydney. I have not regretted my decision for a moment!
