Reviews of Bentons Road, Mount Martha

"Bentons Road Mt Martha."

Nice area, quiet, but Bentons Road is the main road in the area and is fairly busy. There is a shopping centre and supermarket nearby, this complex also includes a petrol station, video library and post office

"Two Years On"

Traffic has got even more busier, lots of building activity. Recession what recession houses being built every where along Bentons Rd, large blocks of land being turned into multi occupancy blocks. Median Price $470,000 for houses in Mount Martha and units $387,000.

Benton Square is undergoing redevelopment more shops being added to the complex. Turning into a busy shopping center, and a hangout for kids who should be home at night who knows what the parents are doing. And lots of SUV's and mothers who dress like they spend a lot of time at gyms, or maybe its just a fashion statement.

Wow - that paints a pretty ordinary picture of what is a pretty typical shopping complex in a really nice neighbourhood. Yes, there has been a lot of development going on, and yes there are some ratty kids who hang about making a nuisance of themselves at times, but it's no different to any middle class Aussie suburb.
The redevelopment of Bentons Sq shopping is a vast improvement on what was there. there are new specialty shops and pretty much everything you need on a daily basis, and the Safeway is now far better organised than before.
Bentons Road is not my favourite road in the world, but it is a main vein through this area and the new traffic controllers (speedhumps etc) are working to slow down the hoons.
Cheers
(Oh, I'm one of those mothers who drives an SUV and wears gym clothes - they're comfortable and yes I work out!)

"Good Street to live in, but has high traffic volume"

Bentons Rd borders the edge of Mornington's residential area beyond us is open land areas which are being sold for residential use. We will soon eventually be surrounded by housing estates. One end of Bentons Rd is close to the beach and with high value homes beach views, while the other end is housing estates (aka: McMasions). In between is old residential lots that are being sold for multi unit dwellings. The block we are on was sold for million dollars and has had 20 units built on it. So if you where a early buyer 20 years ago you would be making money now. Has a couple of age care and retirement residences. Street has a diverse mixture of housing, with a shopping complex (Benton's Square) with a Safeway's supermarket and a mixture of small retail business, medical and dental facilities.

Hi cooee,

It's amazing how much traffic can influence a street. You can have the most amazing houses on a street, but bad traffic can really kill the area. I must say though, this is the first I have heard of anything negative in Mount Martha! To be honest, I have only heard great things. It's fantastic to get the locals perspective on the street.

More importantly, what are he neighbors like? With such a flood of new homes, and new families, what is your take on the new influx of people?

Hi AJ,
There is only 4 sets of traffic lights in Mornington and one of those is on Bentons Rd, speaks for its self. Neighbors in our section of the street are quite, mainly older folk. Early to bed early to rise. As an example New Years Eve not a soul to be seen, like a Sunday night.

Only 4 sets of traffic lights?? I thought there were a lot more! I guess you learn something new everyday :) And I guess having a quiet street would be nice as well!
