Reviews of Berkeley Vale, NSW

"Family and community feel"

Have lived in Berkeley Vale for 5-6 years now, have noticed more and more young families now call it home. Love seeing the kids riding bikes along the lake.
Local shops are great, and major shopping centres, (and beaches) less than 10min away. Great suburb well located to everything the coast has to offer

"Great location, peaceful and friendly people all around."

I think in the coast, this is one of the more convenient locations. With easier access to the highway, but still between two massive shopping malls within 10 mins drive, multiple beaches only few mins drive away, a lake and a nice walking track. This place has it all.

"Great place to live"

I have lived in Berkeley Vale for 25 years. We love being within around 10mins drive to alot of amenities, beaches, freeway, train station, cafes, shopping centres etc. We use the cycleway around tuggerah lakes almost daily and have a really friendly street - love our annual Christmas catchup.

"Best place to live and work from home!"

I moved to Berkeley Vale from Sydney and it was the best decision in my life! The neighbours are friendly and there's so much more nature and space. The neighbourhood is very safe and quiet and it feels like you're living in the countryside while still having all the things you need only a few minutes away. Tuggerah Westfield, Bunnings, Coles and many other stores are just a short drive or walk away. There's Tuggerah lake and many beaches nearby. The best thing though is the close proximity to M1 - on average it's just a bit more than an hour drive to Sydney CBD. And the internet is super fast and reliable. I work permanently from home and it's an absolute delight to live and work here. In my opinion, Berkeley Vale is the perfect place for young professionals who want to move away from the city but still enjoy lots of shopping and leisure opportunities!

i also work perm from home.. wondering whether it makes sense to move here. We are new to Australia and having lived most of our lives in a busy metropolitian city ( singapore), we could use some fresh air.. I wonder how accepting people are in general of foreigners moving here. Gentrification is hitting central coast in a big way and i am not sure whether it will have any affects on us.

I don't know how accepting of foreigners people are. All my neighbours are Australian/of European descent, mostly couples or elderly people. Berkeley Vale is not a very multicultural/diverse place.

Rentals in Berkeley Vale

"Coastal lifestyle, city convenience"

We had heard about Berkeley Vale, or as we call it "Berky V" from friends and family living nearby but it wasn't until we bought here tIhat we realised what a gem this place is. Its all about proximity. Berkeley Vale is the perfect location being equidistant to great shopping, direct train and motorway to Sydney (and Newcastle) and the local beaches. I mean world-class beaches like Shelly Beach and Toowoon Bay. The 15 km cycleway around Tuggerah Lake is serene and stunning as well a being a great Saturday transit to the bustling cafes of Long Jetty. Mingara Recreation club, which is minutes away, has an amazing gym and aquatic centre and some pretty decent food to boot. The cute bottle shop there sells artisan gin and freshly baked soughdough. Its all of these delightful touches that makes Berkeley Vale a great place to live. The cost? Our 2br and a study inner Sydney unit sold for the same as what we purchased our 5br house for..

"Feel at home in Berkeley Vale"

The place to grow up and go to school, chill down at the lakeside or retire in style. The weather on the coast is always beautiful and not at either end of the scale. You can find beautiful modern homes here or get your hands on some classic antiques with loads of character. Want to live the social life? Here's where you can start!

Great for

  • Beaches are nice and close
  • Shopping is a breeze
  • Major medical right next door just in case

Hey Lara thanks for your introduction to the suburb. Could you share what you think about the flooding issue at Berkeley Vale? Is it a big issue here? How often does it happen?
Thanks

I don't live in Berkeley Vale. I live in Bateau Bay but I have family there. I can tell you that it is a lovely little place very quiet and lots of trees and birds . Close to lake, shops, schools etc ......but it does flood along Lakedge. It has flooded a couple times this year . I wouldn't buy on that road. Lots of houses for sale there I would say due to flooding as they back onto lake.

"Sea For Yourself!"

Berkeley Vale is very popular for those wanting to make the sea change from Sydney. I myself made the move approximately nine years ago and have never looked back. One of the first things I noticed, was when I went for a morning walk, fellow walkers all greeted me with a "good morning" and a smile that just made my day. I since then have had a daughter and refuse to raise her anywhere else in the world.
It is beautiful the way the community sticks together, supports each other and is never short of a helping hand.
The cost of living is still reasonable as apposed to areas of Sydney. What's more is the value for money in purchasing a home. You can obtain lake front properties for the same price a shack in Sydney would cost. The bush tracks are amazing, and there is always something new to be discovered. A weekend drive along the central coast is always going to lead to a new adventure.
Living here, never ceases to amaze me. From the local wildlife to the friendly people you pass in the street. It is a community that just keeps on with infrastructure as well. We have so much available to us up here from Amazingly Large shopping centres to Doctors on hand and transportation abundance.

"A great established neighborhood"

I have been living at Berkeley Vale for over 15 years now & I love it!! It has a great spirit of people, plenty of sporting facilities, a good public school & high school. It has great public transport, it's only 6 minutes to the train station & about 8 minutes to the F3 freeway. There is a gorgeous walking or riding track right along the lake. Plenty of restaurants, take away food, gyms & shopping centres nearby. Mingara Recreation Club is also nearly on your doorstep. It is a safe area & ideal for families, singles, couples or retirees. All this & still only about a 6 minute drive to the beaches.
