"All rounder with good investment options"

I've looked after many rental properties in Blackburn South while I've worked at Ray White Mitcham and can honestly say it is a lovely area with decent facilities.

While it doesn't have its own train station its not far to go to Blackburn station or catch a tram on Burwood Hwy. Kmart Plaza has recently been renovated and lots of extra shops have been added, making it a good and easy option for locals. Plus Forest Hill Chase is also just around the corner.

There are many apartments going up, which always rent well and at a good price. Resale of apartments currently is tough, as so many are being built, but for longterm it is a good place to invest.

Many parks are scattered through the streets and a few 'inner city' cafes are popping up close by to enjoy.

Overall a great suburb and a great place to invest.

Great for

  • Close to a lot of options for everything

Not great for

  • No train station

"Lots of options"

It's far enough into the suburbs that you can have a sense of greenery and open space but close enough that the city is't too far away. Meanwhile, Canterbury Rd will take you out to the hills and Yarra Valley on the weekends. Public transport is close and traffic isn't a problem except for peak hour but even then it's tolerable. The Eastern freeway isn't far away either or there is the option of Burwood Hwy to the M1. Major shopping centres are covered with Doncaster to the North, Chadstone to the south, Knox to the East or perhaps The Glen to the south east. Box Hill provides a good place for buying asian groceries too.
It's basically a suburb that provides options for everyone without necessarily being the centre of anything.

Great for

  • Close to a lot of options for everything

Not great for

  • Not really the centre of anything
