Areas in Queensland to recommend

Hi,
I am from the UK and looking for a place on the coast of Queensland that would be suitable for my young children and preferable a cooler temperature and I know that some areas of Queensland can be very hot. My field of work is in IT so ideally a location that would be nearby to this industry too.
