"Nice place"

I am homeless living in Braidwood. The locals and business help where they can. Hoping to get social housing soon. Would love to stay here and remain in this wonderful community

"High crime"

I didn’t have the best experience in Braidwood. House and car broken into on several occasions. Braidwood has a real bad underworld of junkies. The back streets can be quite scary with these junkies roaming around looking for cars to break into or steal.

If you’re a junkie, this is a great place to live in your office of housing!

Rentals in Braidwood

"Braidwood - Comfortable feel with friendly locals."

Braidwood is located on the Southern Tablelands of NSW between Canberra and Batemans Bay and travelling to the coast you will be amazed at the beautiful scenery. Braidwood has many heritage buildings that have been restored and preserved from the 1800’s. Braidwood has been used as a location for movies including ‘Dad and Dave’ and ‘Ned Kelly” as well as many small production and TV series. The town has arts and grafts shops as well as historical museums which are really interesting to the history buff. There are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and you can stay at a guest house, motel or hotel. Whilst in Braidwood you can play a round of golf, go for a swim at the pool, play tennis or squash or go for a relaxing bushwalk close by or enjoy exploring one of the State and National Parks nearby.

You have got to be joking 'blackbird! Braidwood should be levelled and you need glasses! Which run down building were you squinting at? Where did you eat? You must have been starving! Finding accommodation is as difficult as finding someone happy to serve you their sad and thawed out, overpriced fare, if you are lucky enough to catch them open! But you are right about Ned Kelly and Dad & Dave....they are the locals!!!!!!!!!!

Loudmouth

We agree, Avoid this Town or Perish at your own Expense, NO JOKING. the Town know whom i am.

Loudmouth

Refer to the Braidwood Times(newspaper) letters to the editor from Francis Blacker(long term local) whom states very clearly that THIS TOWN IS NOT SUITABLE FOR FAMILIES!! The previous local copper Richard pearce also let rip in the local rag condemning the locals attitudes etc and their extra curicullar activities to rip off 'blow-ins'. The best view of Braidwood is in your rear-view mirror!!

I moved to Braidwood a few years ago but left within 9 months due to the high crime rate. The town is made up mostly of government housing which cannot be seen from the lovely main street with the lovely buildings. After living there for just one month, my house was broken into, 2 nights later my car was stolen from my driveway. my neighbors thought it was a good idea to have at least two party's a week which always ended up in a violent fight out the front of my home. So my experience wasn't great but others that live there seem pretty happy.

Any one denigrating Braidwood have rocks for brains, I don't know where the people rubbishing this awesome friendly town come from but would have to be a haven for losers in life. Braidwood has the loveliest gardens around and just speaking for myself Braidwood residents are the friendliest people in NSW.

Hi Vivienne, there are some great people in the town. I am currently homeless with a few others in town. I am fortunate to have a car to live in but some not as fortunate. A few locals help with food and clothes. Some business help with food which has been lovely. Hoping I get a government house soon.
