"Perfect Nightlife"

Brunswick street is the perfect place to go out fo dinner or to a bar. Variety of restaurants for all tastes. Really good shops. People are real friendly. Live bands on most nights.

"a lot is changing on Brunswick St"

A lot of the bars and restaurants are changing, redecorating, or closing down. Rents are apparently rising. The bar with no name is now called Libation, a very swish new place called St Jude's cellars has opened, new places are about to open next to Polly, and some of the shops that have been around for years are closing. There's also a new IGA supermarket on the corner of Cecil St

"An essential part of Melbourne"

Over the last decade Brunswick Street has done its very best to maintain its character and eccentricities. What has changed in this time is the number of people that know what is on offer.

It is still one of the best parts of Melbourne.

"Trendy inner city living...."

Back in the early 90s, Fitzroy was full of cheap run down share houses and lot's of muso's and artists and uni students. These days the locals are of the sort that have much bigger disposable incomes, but the street still retains a bohemian feel. It's a street that attracts a lot of non local traffic due to the nightlife, boutique shopping and it’s proximity to the city. The footpaths are usually busy any time of the day or night. (Not that you can see that in the video on this page)

This street is one of the most vibrant, interesting streets in Melbourne, lots and lots of character, most known for it’s shopping, food, live music venues and bars.

Clothes shopping along Brunswick street is excellent with lots of local designers and something to suit every budget, there’s also a range of quite unique homeware stores and gift shops.

As far as eating out goes pages could be dedicated to restaurants, bars and cafes that line each side of this street. Once again, something to suit every budget and taste. If you don’t want to eat out then there is also a supermarket and various delis, bakeries and a fruit and veg shop too.

Public transport is good, the 112 tram goes from the city, along Brunswick street heading towards Preston, you’re also within walking distance of the 96 on Nicholson and the 86 which ends up on Smith St but first crosses Brunswick street at Getrude Street. You can also walk to the top of the city within 20 minutes.

I’d recommend Brunswick St as a place to live if you were single or part of a couple who enjoyed going out a lot. It’s certainly not a place to live if you like tranquillity but it has much to offer in the way of culture and lifestyle if that’s what interests you and you like being where it’s all happening.
