Burdell's wonderful parks, good schools, amenities, and a clean and safe environment are great places to live.

No matter how Stocklands wish to spruik their development the simple truth is that property prices are in freefall for those that have built. Over 50% of houses in the development ( according to Domain) are investment properties and anyone can spot these with a quick drive around the streets. Roads which would improve traffic flow have not been completed and are now looking like they will never be finished. The shopping center is basic with no new major retailers since it has been built. No tavern even though this has been promised for years. Compared to Fairfield the shopping is pitiful. The parks are nice but there are no toilets anywhere and it is common to see pedestrians walking on the roads, as there is no formed footpaths on any side road which is 3rd word for this day and age. Over the years the area has got worse with hoons and a quick look at any roundabout with the tell tale black rubber wheelie marks confirms it. The only areas that get any attention are the ones where there are showhomes.

I like Burdell, very leafy and green, lots of play options for the kids and a friendly community atmosphere.

I live in old part of north shore we have amazing area crime is low. i understand Discovery area smaller block ADF home only last for 10 years before sold off. i have two ADF home in my area no problem. Deeragun has bit crime and stuff but compared to kirwan were i live before this is heaven. North shore dose need little more retail coffee shop and woolworths few other retails and public pool.

Burdell is a very nice area, the people are lovely and it is an easy drive to everything, new shopping centres nearby and plenty of recreational facilities.

Very conveniently located with great houses and a good community atmosphere I love visiting friends who live in Burdell.

We bought in the Discovery suburb after being told it was designed by Stocklands as a family friendly area with lots of parks and outdoor spaces, with restaurants and a pub to be built. 7 years on we sold at a loss just to get out of a nightmare. Rentals all around us ( latest figures show 80% ), no peace at night due to dogs barking continuously, cannot walk the streets as vehicles parked on nature strips so the road is the only option. Got sick of dodging the dog poo all over the actual proper paths. Not one toilet for my kids to use in the so called friendly parks. The latest so called eatery is a container close to Stocklands new sales area, not exactly great for those that don't want to dodge all the mosquitoes and humidity as it is el fresco. Moved to an older area which does indeed have more owner/occupiers and people are friendly.

I was told before purchase that the ratio of owner occupier/ rentals was 80/20%. Figures in show yes that is right but the rentals are 80%. Property prices are forever going downward and all Stockland seem to be interested in is the area around Sunhaven. We have had promised roads that would take the pressure off traffic congestion around Bohle State School not finished ( over 5 yrs now) and Discovery seems run down and shabby. The over abundance in rental properties don't help as the narrow roads are a nightmare to navigate in the evenings with cars parked on nature strips and roadsides as there is no offroad parking or 4 tenants in a small house is not catered for in garage space. The park is a joke compared to Sunhavens lovely parks. Would get out but cannot afford the $100k drop off build price to entice a buyer.

We were told it was a community focused neighborhood. We built in Discovery and found we were surrounded with rentals and ADF properties and these tenants showed no care or consideration to anyone. Our street was filled with brawls and cars racing up and down.2 yrs later and we could not sell our home unless we dropped price by over &100 ,000 . A lot of owners have moved on and we have been back and street looks rough with scruffy lawns and rubbish bins left on nature strips. Have it rented and property prices still dropping.

Our family moved in last year and love it. The parks are so much fun and in the afternoon we see so many people out walking their dogs and playing in the parks that we have made so many friends. We have all the things we need here and there is a lot to come from Stocklands, I think any family would like it. There's something about how it feels living here I don't think you can understand until you have lived here.

I have lived at North Shore (Burdell) for 7 years now. Its close to where we work. What we love about living here is the walking paths and parks. Compared with the rest of Townsville its an oasis and has much better and more modern feel than other areas. There is also shops which makes it convenient. Lots of community type events and good people live here so we feel safe. Overall I think its a great place to live and would highly recommend it compared with any other suburb of Townsville.

We have watched with concern our friends that purchased in North Shore. They were misled about the idea of moving to a neighbourhood which was supposed to be great for family and lifestyle. They are surrounded by rentals and are under attack with lack of sleep due to ferals that are next to them. The street is an eyesore with cars continually parked on the nature strips which has caused dead lawns and ruts so the only safe place to walk is on the road with traffic. Rubbish bins also seem to live on the nature strip and the smell is a shocker as these tenants don't seem to give a damn about covenants and neither do the agents or private owners who rent to them. We have watched our friends mood change over the years as the hopelessness of knowing they cant sell because of the massive loss due to low resale that it would be near impossible to start again. Stockland needs to lift their game as far as upholding covenants.

I love living in Burdell with my family. There are lots of excellent schools now in North Shore. We are extremely happy with Petit Early Learning Centre. Stockland Northshore shopping centre has an excellent Woolworths and pharmacy. All of our neighbors are friendly and considerate. We feel very safe in North Shore. We'd love to see a tavern and more restaurants and cafes.

Figures just out show 40% of houses are rentals and this is not counting ADF rentals. Starting to look scruffy and no new development at shopping centre. Property values dropping like a stone and lots of vacant rentals.

Just a nightmare. Too many rentals and ADF properties which mean sleepless nights and all sorts of social problems, narrow streets and houses too close. Slum is putting it mildly. No public toilets in the unkempt parks and I wish we had never built here.

Starting to look like a slum now with untidy properties and cars parked on narrow roads which makes it hard to manoeuvre. Most of the home owners around us have left and rentals are rife, properties prices have plummeted. There has been no new decent businesses added to the shopping centre. The km's of parks have no toilets so kids have to relieve themselves in the bushes. Amazing when the so called pirate park is aimed at tots. The open drains threaded thru the parks are breeding ground for mozzies, A slum of the future.

We have lived in Meridian Court, Burdell for a year now and have found it to be a fantastic place to live, with a real family feel to it. Although we don't have children ourselves, it still brings a smile to your face when you hear children playing with other children in the neighbourhood. Streets are wide, traffic is to a minimum, house blocks are large and most importantly, neighbours are friendly. We have no hesitations in recommending Burdell a suburb to live, it is close enough to schools, shopping centres, a public pool and parks without having that 'closed in' feel that you would get in older suburbs. Not only that, it is easy as pie to jump on the Bruce Hwy and you are within 10 minutes of all the major shopping centres. Hope onto the Ring Road and you are 7mins to the Hospital, Army Barracks, University, and the Ross River. With the onging development of North Shore Estate even more convenient shopping and leisure activities will also be available in less than 5mins drive! All this without compromising on the valued "Family Neighbourhood" feel. 10/10 stars!
