Reviews of Bwy, Crawley

"the hub of student life"

I spent an enormous amount of time on this street as a uni student - eating at Mothers and many other places, doing my grocery shopping, drinking at the pub, visiting friends living in flats on this street, having a great time!

"Trendy, wealthy, uni, students accommodation and very wealthy people"

This is a very interesting and cosmopolitan street in which to live and there is always something happening. There are many places to eat out and the river and foreshore are within walking distance. There are many units in this street and many are rented out and somea re owner occupied. many cater to the huge student population for students attending UWA. Braodway Fair Shopping Centre has been around for decades and many of the shops in the street have changed hands and names over the years, but the laundromat that has been there for aeons is still there. I remember using it way back in the early 70's. Cool place that laundromat. There are heaps of interesting and cheap, exotic places to eat and there are lots of great walks to go on. UWA is a fantastic place to visit or in which to study and has great gardens. Real estate in the street has skyrocketed and you won't get much change out of four or five hundred thousand for an apartment these days. A lot of the apartments are old style and would be good to renovate. Buses are plentiful and access to Fremantle and Perth city is really easy. Broadway is really central to everything. I wouldn't count on really knowing all of my neighbours, but most of the people around seem to be really quite friendly. With so many students and units there is s somewhat transient population. Broadway is a really interesting and great place to live. Steve's pub, which was an area icon and the hangout for uni students since forever, is being redeveloped. Something very important has now vanished from Nedlands. They should have kept Steve's the way it was. It had such character and gave people great memories. Now just rich yuppies and blue rinse people who will live in the very expensive upgrade will use it and it will never have the same atmosphere ever again.
