""Roller Coaster paradise""

Super convenient suburb surrounded by three or four train stations and many bus stops, which is good for commuting. But my car drinks much more fuel since I moved here, as this is absolutely a "roller coaster" suburb with heaps of steep slopes

"Lovely suburb"

Although I live in a neighbouring suburb, I mostly work in Carina selling property. It is one of the most sought after suburbs. It is centrally located with easy access to the M1, airport and CBD. Lots of amenity close by, i.e. Cannon Hill and Westfield Shopping Centre, with coffee shops and all other convenience stores in close proximity. Lots of bushland with walkways, creeks and areas to relax. Worth a visit!

"Peaceful and Green in Immediate Vicinity to Plenty of Lifestyle Options"

I have actively worked in Carina for years and I must say that it is an absolutely lovely part of Brisbane with a multitude of exceptional green spaces, nature walks, dog parks and playgrounds. There's also hugely convenient access to the Gateway Motorway north and south, reliable bus routes directly into the city via Carindale and quick access to Westfield Carindale with plenty of shopping, dining and lifestyle options.

It's also an excellent way for young families to gain access into the Brisbane property market at a relatively affordable level. I couldn't recommend the suburb enough.

"Tranquil Suburb Close to Everything"

Carina has such a wonderful feel to it and offers something for everyone. Carina is conveniently located, with quick access to the M1, airport,
express transport and all major amenities. Westfield Carindale is on your doorstep, as well as a number of great local schools.
The suburb borders Carindale, Carina Heights, Cannon Hill and Camp Hill. Although just 7kms to the CBD, Carina presents excellent value for those looking to rent or purchase in the area. Carina is surrounded by beautiful parklands and is a safe, family friendly suburb.

"As nice but cheaper than surrounding suburbs"

We lived on the northern border of Carina.
It is very convenient. Close to shopping centre and not far from Connon Hill train station. It is also very easy to travel to sunshine coast and gold coast as M1 is around the corner.
It is great to also have seven hill reserve close by and you can go for a walk without getting burnt under the sun. Great place to walk the dog too.
Most importantly the price is so much cheaper than surrounding suburbs like Connon hill, seven hill, camp hill etc

Rentals in Carina

"Such a nice quiet family friendly suburb"

I moved to Carina 2 years ago and have really enjoyed living here. There are heaps of townhouses getting built in the area, so the old derelict homes are coming down making way for new updated stylish townhouses. Each build looks so different so the landscape is constantly changing. Even with the amount of townhouses being built, my street and the surrounding ones are whisper quiet. I don't hear any dogs barking and I am far enough back from Old Cleveland Road, that I don't have any traffic noise either.

I work in the city and drive there. It is 8km from my home to my work exactly, and if I leave at 8am Monday - Friday I am there at 8.40am sitting at my office desk. But if you prefer to get public transport, there are buses frequently, which makes for easy commuting. It only takes 15 minutes to drive to the CBD on the weekend.

I feel safe walking around Carina at night, or on the weekends. There are heaps of young families also going for their walk and they are friendly, say hello and smile as they walk past. My neighbours are also very nice, they will happily collected my mail and take out my bin for me if I am away, and I also do the same for them. There is a real community vibe to Carina which makes it a desirable location to live.

I would highly recommend Carina, everything is just at your doorstep from the restaurants and boutique shops of Westfield Carindale, with easy access to the Gateway Motorway going north to the airport or south to Gold Coast.

"Great family suburb"

Leafy green suburb with lots of parks and recreation facilities close to great schools, shopping and dining precincts. Carina is located halfway between the city and the bay; within 10 kilometres of either. Carina also has great easy connections to the gateway motorway for airport/Sunshine Coast/Gold Coast. Close proximity to the CBD but with a more relaxed green feel than some of the other suburbs with similar proximity.

Great for

  • A great selection of schools
  • Affordable southside suburb
  • Excellent transport
  • Lots of trees
  • Big blocks

"Carina - Gray Street"

I have lived on Gray Street for a couple of years, I moved here. with my children from Morningside (and prior to that Norman Park). I absolutely love my street. We are just 5 minutes from Westfield Carindale and 2 minutes from the Cannon Hill Shopping Complex. Even though we are close to Brisbane City, we are surrounded by Parkland. There are plenty of places to take our dog for a walk off-leash and traffic is very light. Carina has everything to offer and we will not be moving anywhere else!

"Hidden Gem"

We originally moved to Carina from Balmoral as a temporary measure with the aim of moving back to Balmoral or Bulimba, after 5 years in Carina we have no desire to leave our place. Large blocks, very quite and a close community spirit make Carina (North) a hidden gem. Our house is so close to Camp Hill and Seven Hills but more affordable. The new East Village will be a boon for the local area and can't wait to enjoy the facilities once it's built. Getting to the Sunshine Coast is very easy and the airport is 15 mins drive tops! 13 mins into the city on a good run and Westfield just up the road. Glad we bought when we did given its proximity and infrastructure including ADSL 2.

"Bushland setting in the city"

We love Carina as it is so close to parklands (including designated off-leash dog parks) and bushwalks (Seven Hills Reserve). It is within easy walk to shops (Cannon Hill centre) buses (including the interchange) and 3 tran stations are all in easy access.
Only a short drive to the Gateway, giving very easy access to the Airport, including the Gold & Sunshine Coasts.
You can leave the weekly worries of the city behind, whilst still only being minutes away.
Plus, as the property values are still typically lower than the surrounding suburbs, you can grab yourself a bargain & wait for the values to catch up when everyone realises how close to the city this suburb still is!

"There is something for everyone in the area of Carina!!!!"

It's a suburb that has everything, close proximity to the Gateway Motorway for the North and South Coasts, Carindale Shopping Centre, public transport, The Clem Jones Sports Centre and other small specialty shops.

It is close to the idea of the City but far away enough for suburban living. Carina is a great location for the family environment.

"Carina is a great residential suburb just 6 ks from the centre of Brisbane."

Carina has a mixture of housing from Queenslander's, Post war homes, and architect designed townhouse developments, Carina has something for everyone. This family friendly suburb has an abundance of schools, parks and of course The Clem Jones Sports Centre, incorporating Easts Carina Leagues Club, cricket, baseball and the combined Hockey and Bowls club, plus it is only a short drive to Westfield Carindale a shopping and transport hub.
The suburb has easy access to the gateway motorway, with the Gold and Sunshine coasts just an hours drive away and the centre of Brisbane just 15 minutes.
If you would like a safe and friendly enviroment for your family, you can't go past Carina and the surrounding suburbs of Carina Heights, Camp Hill, and Carindale.

"Carina - love it!"

Carina is changing...
We have lived in the area for 5 years, 4 years renting and 1 year owning. We were very happy to find a house in this area in which to set our roots and bring up our small children. We plan to stay long term and enjoy the many conveniences that living in Carina offers.

I can walk my children to school, daycare and the local shops on Stanley Road. These shops boast a fantastic range of shops including excellent butcher, fruit, vegetables and deli as well as an IGA newsagent and wonderful fish and chip shop. I find that I can pick up everything I may have missed shopping as well as some extras that the big Supermarkets do not stock.

We have never had any problems with our internet connection or mobile phone reception. We enjoy the convenience this area has to other major areas like Carindale, Colmslie Park, Bevedere Park, Oxford Street Bulimba, Cannon Hill Shopping Centre, Clem Sports Centre. It is also only 10-15 minutes in peak hour traffic to my work in Woolloongabba.

Whilst we are relatively new to the community we have neighbours who have lived in the area for 40-50 years. These older neighbours have been wonderful welcoming me and my family to the area and we visit them regularly.

Carina - love it!

"Fan of Carina Great for Families and Couples"

My family has lived in Carina for over 10 years. Our children attend the local schools and daycare and we have found them to be excellent. Carindale Shopping Centre is close by (from Kennington Street) to fulfill the need to shop while Oxford St Bulimba is only a few minutes away by car and offers a variety of specialty shops and dining experiences.

We have upgraded to broadband, but have never had any trouble with our internet connection or mobile reception.

There is plenty of green space for the kids and we have always found our neighbours to be friendly and helpful.

I am so glad we chose Carina as the place for our family to live.

"Carina? Love it!!"

We have lived in Carina for 4 years in 2 different properties firstly on Breslin Street and then in Celestial Court - new development off Creek Rd. We have been very happy living here its close to the city yet nice leafy streets and parks esp near Celestial Court - the development has a strip of park land through the middle that leads to a creek and onto a lovely park for children. I love going for a walk with my toddler to the park most days with out having to drive anywhere.

Carindale shopping centre is just down the road as is Cannon Hill. We had very good ADSL broadband internet at Celestial Court and Cable internet at Breslin street, Foxtel IQ via satalite at Celestial Court.

We have always found our neighbours to be very friendly and helpful.

as for eating out etc we often went over to Bulimba which has many good cafes and resturants and a pub. The Carina leagues club is just opposite Celestial court and we often walked over there on a sat arvo with our little boy for a drink as it is very children friendly. There are amazing sports facilities at the Clem Jones Centre also opposite.

On corner of stanly st and florence rd are a great set of shops including a v good fruilt and veg shop that has recently opened a fantastic deli with a great cheese section. There is also a news agent, hairdresser, little supermarket, bottle shop, a great pizza takeaway, and good fish and chip shop.

Over all a lovely area!!!

"BAD LOCATION - some part"

some parts of carina, the ones that im living in, Johnston St, doesn't have internet connection, because of Telstra's pair gain system, and developer were to blame, the only way i can get internet connection is getting a wireless broadband!

Whoever don't NEED internet connection nowadays? this area is welcomed if you are ready to fork out tons of money for wireless broadband or don NEED internet at all in your life!

Hi I read your review and just wanted to clear some things up for people.

ADSL broadband is available in Johnston St (I live there) and have TPG ADSL (also had Bigpond ADSL prior to that for 2 years)

You however cannot get ADSL2+ due to the pair gain system which you mentioned, which means you end up paying ridiculously large amounts (compared to the much faster TPG ADSL2+) to use telstra's infrastructure which most ADSL providers have to rely on.

Though I do get how you and others can make the mistake you did thinking you can't get broadband there as adsl2+ is what many companies offer as their own first preference, and they will come back to you saying they cannot install it.

pnastaj

I fully agree with aka and totally disagree with dancan. I rented recently rented house on Johnston street and tried 3 weeks to find any broadband on this street (cable, iinet, bigpond). While telstra(big pond) says they can connect me land phone line without any problem they can not provide any internet other than mobile at this area the same time. Telstra mobile is 3 bars on the phone, but now it is 24 months contract and some funny data and speed limitations (if you compare to any EU country or US). Optus is even worse in bars, I mean very unstable - in the same minute max and min bars. Vodafone is total disaster 1-2 bars the most :) - Johnston st to me is the worst area I ever lived in terms of the Internet. Park in neighbourhood is great I must say. There are swiming pools to share. Dancan if you do not mind please share your ideas how to get broadband here - will be very grateful.
