Reviews of Cartwright, NSW

"Quiet affordable suburb"

There is plenty of green open spaces and cycle paths throughout the suburb. Over the years, more families have moved into the area, especially first home buyers due to its affordability. The suburb is leafy and filled with lush trees and greenery, with public transport available from the T-way buses. In some pockets, new townhouses and apartment blocks are being built. Overall, the suburb will continue to grow as the new airport/aerotropolis is being developed.

"More than a decade living here, better than a decade ago"

Moved to the eastern part of Cartwright about 20 years ago. Back then it was full of druggies, people doing burnouts and once in a while you hear police sirens. It had steadily decreased because the housing commission units were sold privately. They are now rented but at least those people know the value of having a roof over their head. We still get some pretty bad characters especially those that don't keep their houses and yards clean and attract vermin/pests. You can see inside some of those units because they have no curtains. Some of them have broken glass, cardboard boxes stacked up high, filthy looking walls.. Sometimes we find it hard to park on our street due to the increased density of residents. But overall it was better than 2 decades ago. But there has always been a mix of nice people to go with it. We said hi to our now overdosed druggie neighbor so he didn't vandalise our car. We were broken into twice but the second time our new neighbor scared then away while we were on holiday. Then they got broken into and we called the police. The burglar chase was aired on Channel 9. I guess if you have your security right, this place is pretty convenient for the shops and schools.

It is not older people buying here now. Young families buying the houses and singles looking for cheap rent are the majority. I'm happy with the services targeted at the local schools to improve the socioeconomic gap. It is relatively close to everything: M7, t-way, clubs, schools, small shopping centre. It is certainly better than 20 years ago. Hopefully there will be more long term people buying here because it would be a better community that way.

Great for

  • Hasn't been flooded yet
  • If you say hi to people, they aren't that up themselves to ignore you
  • Good services for young children in schools
  • Family friendly
  • Great walking lanes

Not great for

  • Likely to be burgled if your house looks like an easy target
  • Most people keep to themselves
  • A lot fo renters who don't care much for the aethetics of Cartwright
  • Units are ugly
  • Some houses are untidy

"Finally leaving!"

Full of drunks, druggos and always hear either gun shots or bungers going off. Alot of hoons in hotted up cars but the worst is the trail bikes that are always riding around digging up the lawns. I cannot wait to leave this damp, mouldy suburb which is always dirty looking. hardly anyone takes pride in their houses, and nobody talks to each other. Most of the language that comes out of the mouths of people around here is disgusting. We rented a house as it was cheap and couldnt wait to move out (we lasted 6 mths). Save your money and move further out camden way you will have a better lifestle.

Not great for

  • People have bad language
  • Drunks, druggos & crazies walking around
  • Trail bikes dig up your lawn all hours and the hotted up cars all night doing burnouts
  • Cabramatta Creek looks terrible
  • Units are ugly
  • Some houses are untidy

Rentals in Cartwright

"Alot of young families"

Alot of first home buyers are flushing out the old "housing commission" stigma. We love our neighbours and where we live. I was hesitant in buying her at first but am so glad we did. Our neighbours are the friendliest we have every had. My kids love the school and enjoy being able to ride their bikes.
