Caversham, WA 6055

I built in Caversham 18 years ago and it is a great little suburb and close to everything. Nice parks and the Swan Valley is at your doorstep. I drive to the city every day and is only a 20 minute drive. Very family orientated. House prices are increasing rapidly and Under Offer stickers within days which says a lot.

Quiet, peaceful, no dodgy people, nice neighbours, multicultural, great parks, nice homes. There is old caversham and new Caversham. Cannot comment on old Caversham but new Caversham is delightful. Swan valley right there. Lived here for 5 years with two kids. Never had a single issue. Never seen a bogan. Neighbours are friendly and we all look out for each other.

I have lived in Caversham for over 10 years and originally moved here because it was quiet, yet still relatively close to work in the CBD (16km door to door). Some of the open space has been replaced by new estates, but with that we have seen development of a small shopping centre, with a small commercial development on its way. Upgrades of the surrounding transport links has improved access, especially to commercial/industrial areas in Bayswater, Malaga, Morley, Airport and Kewdale. There is a strong community spirit with the local sporting teams playing at the brand new oval and a new primary school under construction, due to be completed soon. This, together with local child care facilities mean this area is great for families. We have enjoyed bringing up our young family here. Our street is great with most houses owner occupied, with great hardworking people who support each other and are considerate neighbours. The new estates have a range of housing, from large semi rural, apartment style townhouses, medium sized blocks and smaller cottage housing.

First of all, Caversham people are extremely social people, there are a lot of nationalities here, specially a lot of Indian. Some people might see this concentration as bad, but I can assure you it is very good as they are all hard working middle class people. Coles has been built and they are looking for build the transport hub on Marshall road so lord street will become a feeder for all the other suburbs north of here. This means buses will come every 10 minutes. Transport to Caversham now is a shocker but this will change overnight once the full lord street extension takes place. They are now building a child care and a doctors office. There are heaps of parks, basketball courts, whiteman park. The average family size in Caversham is 3.1 so there are heaps of kids. The neighbours I have are the best. The liberals canned the new school but the current Caversham school is over full so it won't be long.

The football club is about 40% complete and will be done soon. There will also be an overpass to Dayton in time over reid highway. There are talks of a high school at Brabham. Caversham is about 50% full, some of the houses here are mansions and some are very modest. They are also looking to build apartments next to the shopping centre.

There is nothing in caversham. We live in the new estates and thats all that is to caversham is the houses. There are no local shops, school, train lines, gyms, pub, bars etc. Yes it is in the swan valley area but it is no consolation. Coles is apparently opening soon. School was also being built school and seen on the news it is now cancelled. There is no community here at all, and lots of break ins. All up, i wish we did not buy a house here.

If you move to Caversham thinking you will get the Swan Valley experience cheaper- you're wrong. The suburb is becoming more and more dangerous as estate suburbs within the region start springing up. The community is horrible and the streets are a very dangerous place to be. If you want to move into the Swan Valley, go to Middle Swan or other surrounding areas.

The small town of Caversham, .close to shops, schools, parks, but best of all...walking distance from all the wineries (Swan Valley), So close to suburbia, though on the doorstep to the tranquility of the Swan Valley. Great for young and middle aged families, walking distance to bus stops etc, whilst also ideal for retirees and singles.
If you ask me, I've lived in Caversham for most of my young life, to be completely honest, there have been some less than great times, though the positives far outweigh anything else!
Take my advice...move to Caversham...enjoy...and thats it :)
