Reviews of Chittaway Bay, NSW

"Boating and nature slice of paradise"

Friendly people and perfect for families. Kalua Dr Chittaway Bay is located by lakes and rivers and is a beautiful place to live. Close to beaches, shopping centres and restaurants. I have lived here for 25 years and it was the perfect place to grow up. The nature-filled reserves on both sides of the street make it perfect for kids to be kids. You will always find children outside playing together, climbing trees and building forts, unlike many other suburban areas where there are very limited safe places to play. Perfect for walking the dogs along the river and down to nature path at the end of the street. It is a no-through road, away from busy streets so it is quiet and peaceful. Absolute bliss. The bonus is that Santa and his flock of boats sail down the river handing out bags of lollies to the community every Christmas Eve

Looking for a home in Chittaway Bay?

"If you are going to live on the central coast, Chittaway is a good place."

Chittaway Bay has a nice relaxed feel, locals are friendly and many people are on a first name basis. One of the few areas of the Central Coast that isn't completely filled with people of a low social eco and moral compass. If you are going to live near the lake Chittaway Bay isone of the better suburbs. No tourists yet still close to The Entrance, Terrigal, etc. Only a 5 minute drive to Tuggerah Train Station so it is perfect for commuters or those looking to move up from Sydney (as my family and I did) The first response you will get when you tell people you live (or are thinking) about living at Chittaway Bay is that there is excessive flooding. Unless you are right on the water (like Aloha or Kalua Drive) you really have nothing to worry about. Chittaway Bay also seems to miss majority of major storms, when there is lightning, thunderstorms and wind at Long Jetty there is often not one drop of rain here. One issue you will encounter at Chittaway (and majority of the central coast for that matter) is the roads, LOTS of roads have pot holes which can cause damage to your car and most roads do not have a footpath or proper storm water drainage but you will find this is an issue in basically every suburb on the Central Coast. There is also a large population of senior citizens on the central coast, (many of which are your stereotypical racist, middle class bogan) but in Chittaway Bay there is mainly families with Children that seem to live here. Give it a few years and the oldies will be out of the central coast, for now just try and deal with their slow driving. Another thing to note about Chittaway and many suburbs around the "Wyong Shire" area is the close proximity to the Sanitarium & Masterfoods Factory. On certain nights a pungent onion scent can be smelt lingering in the air. Some nights this can be unbearable but would you rather live in a suburb filled to the brim with bogans and ciggarate smoke infused air or a suburb that is a little unheard of and reasonably free from bogans and have to smell onions a few days a week? I'll let you decide.

Great for

  • Close to Tuggerah Station
  • Has a semi-rural country like feel
  • One of the better lakeside suburbs of the Central Coast

Not great for

  • Sanitarium & Masterfoods Factory Nearby Tend To Stink
  • Certain areas are prone to flooding
  • Poor quality roads

"Kalua Drive"

Lovely place to live! Quiet day and night very safe for children witha lovely park at the end of the street. Fantastic bike track just minutes walk from street that stretches all the way to the entrance.
5 mins drive to Westfields Tuggerah with fantastic shopping and places to Dine. Mingara recreation club also 5 mins away but curtousy bus will pick you up if need be. Bus goes down the street for most schools and shopping districts.
Best thing about the area is the community spirit of the street. People talk as they walk by the reserve, xmas eve santa comes up the river by boat delivering lollies to all the children and the neighbourhood comes alive with community spirit.
We have lived here for 10 years and have loved every minute of it. Close to all amenities including beaches and freeway but far enough away not to have any excesive noise.
The place is paradise!
