Reviews of Clear Island Waters, QLD

"Excellent place to live"

Lived here for 12 Years on the fresh water in a gated estate of townhouses and we love it. People mention midgees and snakes. I have seen about 3 snakes in that time and they were wip snakes not really dangerous as for midgees never had an issue. Yes you do get the young ones whipping around in there tinnies and jet skis and some boats doing above the knots allowed but have seen the water police in here a few times as well. It’s very peaceful can only here some traffic very minimal only when the wind is blowing the wrong way and that is very rare and the wild life is great. We have ducks , swans, pelicans and also water dragons that come out basically right on our back door step. Can also so fish in your backyard have caught some nice Bass and Bream out the back. Have heard there are sharks in the water out the back even though it is fresh water but have never seen one but know people that have said they have. Traffic can be a little hectic around the schools times . The only thing I could complain about are the geckos they can leave a mess but they are only out certain times of the year. Our neighbours are fantastic people and have heard some people mention ferels living here but never heard or seen any. Shopping centres Pacific Fair , Robina Town Centre and Q Super Centre all minutes away Robina a little bit further schools are all close. Broadbeach is 5 mins away if want night life, restaurants, bars and Kurrawa Surf Club and is a safe place to go you do get the odd idiots though. Some of the bars in Broadbeach can be expensive for drinks. So hope this helps any one that is looking at living here.

Looking for a home in Clear Island Waters?

"The Moorings in Clear Island Waters"

I have lived in a few areas on the Gold Coast, from Benowa Waters, Main River, but The Moorings in Clear Island Waters is by far the best place to live. It has the most spectacular sunsets, very safe, friendly, quiet, close to everything, great dog park, plenty running routes and lots of wildlife.

Properties do not often sell in this area, when they come on the market they do not last long

"Tropical paradise - but close to everything"

We have been living in Clear Island Waters for just over 12 months now and love it. It is quiet and peaceful and yet so close to shops like the Q Supercentre, Pacific Fair and even Robina Town Centre is not that far (13 mins). It's also close to the M1 for trips to Brisbane or Byron Bay. Great coffee shop nearby (Goji) and fabulous hairdresser (The Rooms). I especially love all the palm trees that make me feel like I'm in a tropical paradise. Bird life on the lake is plentiful. We don't have any experience with loud boats - in fact there is very little boating on the lake where we are. Zero sightings of jet skis. Neighbours are super quiet which is what we love and there are lots of people walking the streets for exercise or walking their dogs of an early evening. I would be happy to live here forever.

hi judym10, we are thinking the same love the look of clear island waters, bit concerned of people talking about the midges how bad they are expecially near the water and also snakes have you come across any of these. How are you finding the humidity, where from Melbourne.... regards kathyb

judym10

Hi Kathy, we are on the water and have not experienced any midges here at all, and it's been over 12 months now. I'm no expert but I think it's because we have a fresh water (not sea water) frontage. It also means lots more bird life which makes it really interesting. Definitely ask about midges when looking for your house (rent or buy) as I know it can drive people a bit mad. No snakes - thank goodness!!! we had snakes in our previous place because we lived on acreage and I am so pleased they're not a part of my life now. If you're coming from Melbourne, anywhere in south east Queensland will be very humid for you in Jan and Feb. I grew up in the area and the tricks for dealing with this are 1. orientation - always look for north east orientation for living areas; 2. insulation at least in ceiling (if I was building from scratch I'd put it everywhere); 3. ceiling fans are great, and if you must 4. air conditioning. That said, I broke my own rule and bought a house facing north west because of the amazing northern light that comes into the house and because the sunsets take my breath away each day. We manage the afternoon heat with block out blinds. Also coming from down south you might not realise the importance of screens for windows and doors - allows you to open up and still keep out flies. Cheers, Judy

"Most Prestigious Waterfronts in the Gold coast"

Just moved here a few months ago and loving it. Clear Island Waters is a tranquil and peaceful area. Excellent for families and professionals. Far away from the hustles and bustles yet close to all amenities and facilities. Close to great schools, shops and restaurants. A stone throw away from Q-Super-Center and only 7 minutes drive to Pacific fairs and Broadbeach. We were planning to buy and move here when we are in our 60s...but I am glad to took the leap and enjoy our time much much earlier. Everyday I look forward to going home to a SAFE and Relaxing life outside of work.
On the bad side. We would like to see improvements on the bigger roads for safety. There are a pack of hoons who drive their cars a little too fast on the main strip causing major danger to pedestrian and polluting the noise level in the area. Speed humps would be nice in the area. Some main strip foot paths would also be great if the councils pay a little more attention in improving the area. And Lastly, it would be nice to have buses coming in the area for the elderlies in the community.

"Close to the canals, waterfront homes"

A nice quiet area, popular with retirees and families. A golf orientated suburb, with the Surfers Paradise Golf Club located right in the center. Clear Island Waters is also made up of some quite large gated estate, such as the Rhode Island Resort, Island Quay and Santa Cruz.
Easy access to the canals, great for those who love boating. Not far from Pacific Fair Shopping Center, and a short drive to the beach and amenities.

"Wonderful place to live"

I have lived in CIW with my family for the past 7 years and we love it!! It has a great central location, beautiful homes, quiet streets and has been a wonderful place to raise kids. We have found the people very friendly and have formed some life long friendships. I have lived in several central suburbs on the GC and this one is my favorite, we won't be moving any time soon!!

"A close shave, we managed to escape"

We rented in CIW to get a feel for the place, but couldn't get out quick enough. Access is very restricted, the watercraft on the lake is often very noisy and most of the neighbors are up themselves and not particularly friendly. But there always seems to be a noisy party somewhere and the noise seems to echo around the lakes. It would seem to be that just about every house in CIW is for sale and for lots less than they were last week, might explain why so many neighbors are so grumpy. So lots of bargains, but you might have to live here a long time before you break even. Internet seems universally slow, no great services internally, power lines in the east which are not coming down, and on and on. Avoid.

"Close to everything"

This is the perfect waterway. Safe, few boats and kids having fun in tinnies.CIW is close to Robbina shops and Q Centre yet feels miles from anywhere. Having lived here since April I can confirm people seem to take pride in the properties which adds to the peaceful ambience of this suburb. I am certainly in no rush to leave for anywhere else on the Gold Coast

"Absolute paradise!!!"

Where else could you be located to the best shopping, the best lifestyle and best neighbours?!! I have lived in many suburbs on the Gold Coast in the last 23 years, Clear Island Waters is the best by far!! People are so curtious, the waterways are beautiful. We rarely see any boats or watercraft, it is fantastic!!!

"Full of spoiled brats on their small boats and jet skis"

I have lived there. Noisy inconsiderate neighbours who's kids are just spoiled brats. Even the parents drive their boats around at 30 knots when the speed limit is 6. People with high performance European cars drive them at twice the speed limit endangering other kids and elderly pedestrians. The spoiled kids get given exepnsive cars for their 17th birthday and drive like their parents! Not a nice place to live!

I think someone is jealous here !!

ClearWaterBayRe

Good Grief man - we have all the toys, boats, cars, 4WDs, jetskis and so on...we are just good neighbours...unlike the 5% ferals that live in Clear Island Waters...always takes only a few to spoil it for the many...no jealousy here...quite the opposite...

kathyb9

interesting in what you said, considering moving up there would like some information on where not to go on clear island waters, we don't want to be any were the ferals are, would love some feedback. cheers kathy

"A great place to live and magnificant waterfront properties"

I work and live in Clear Island Waters, its a fantastic spot. I like that the area, it is close to the beaches and shopping yet it is quiet. There are a couple of great schools nearby and local shops for those times you run out of milk. I just love it.
