Looking for a home in Colonel Light Gardens?

"Colonel Light Gardens, South Australia"

This is a Heritage listed suburb with a plethora of Heritage 1920s bungalows. Council is strict about maintaining the integrity of the suburb so the suburb has a lovely feel. Very little jarring inappropriate development. The blocks are big. The homes are charming. the footpaths are wide, treelined and attractively maintained.

Great for

  • Nice Theatre at the nearby Mitcham shopping centre. Not far from Unley shopping centre. Close to the city, yet once you are in Colonel Light Gardens you would never know the city is only 20 minutes away
  • The whole suburb is charming and very family orientated
  • Character Buildings
  • Location
  • Lots of room to walk the dog.
  • Leafy

Not great for

  • If you want a super modern flat roofed home this is not for you
  • If you want to live in a highrise this is not for you
  • If you don't respect heritage this is not for you

"Colonel Light Gardens - Jewel of the Inner South"

Ssssh it's a secret. Don't let anyone know about the quiet leafy suburb with great bungalows and brilliant junior schools and parks. Affordable now but who knows in a few years time and can never be over developed. So remember quiet on this one.

"What more could you ask for?"

Character homes that are affordable, but bring big dollars when restored and extended. Plenty of parks and sporting facilities. Trees everywhere (it's known as the 'garden suburb'), little traffic, close to transport, shops, schools, universities, city, beach and hills. Due to it's heritage significance blocks cannot be divided, so there are and never will be blocks of units and out of character development. It's certainly the ideal place to bring up a family.

Rentals in Colonel Light Gardens

"An Awesome Place to live"

I think that Colonel Light Gardens is just an awesome place for anyone to live in!
I have lived there for 13 years and loved it the whole time. I think the main reson I loved it is that it is peaceful and the people who live there are generally quality sort of people. The neighbours and most anyone you meet along the streets are friendly, there is very close acess to public transport and there is not a lot of social activity (e.g. Late night party's etc.)
So all in all... I would recomend Colonel Light Gardens with anyone who was looking for a quite, easy life in the suberbs of Adelaide!

"Heritage listed area with a lot to offer"

A small and odd shaped suburb but a real highlight of the southern suburbs. It is certainly a sought after area and with good reason. Tree lined wide streets, not far from the city with heritage listing across the entire suburb. For some that may be a negative but the houses have a wonderful feel and one of the reasons the area is so sought after is the fact there are so many lovely old houses there.

I really like Colonel Light Gardnes, it is well serviced by plublic transport and nice and close to the city. Set up as a 'garden suburb' it is one of the greenest you'll find.

Good sized blocks and close to the city, it’s a great spot. It will be too expensive for many but if you have the dollars it would be on the highly recommended list.

"A great spot with charming homes to the south of the city"

Situated just to the south of Adelaide, and easily accessed along Goodwood Road, Colonel Light Gardens is a popular suburb for homemakers, professional couples and families.

With many older bungalows lining the wide streets of the suburb, the suburb has taken off in recent years and value-hunters have found their “renovator’s dream”. It is now a cheery and neat suburb, offering lovely suburban just a 20 minute drive from the CBD.

There are some good rental properties in the area, so it is a good spot for students as it is close to Flinders University.

There are many shops and facilities nearby, with the upmarket shopping complex in Mitcham and the sprawling Westfield at Marion both just a short drive away.
