We stumbled across this gem on a day trip to Phillip Island. Within the coveted 'Goldilocks zone' of under 1.5 hrs from CBD Melbourne, this quiet and unassuming seaside fishing village has kept a low profile while people flocked to the Peninsula and Phillip Island. It lacks amenities currently but the rapid development in the region inevitably means this is an up and coming destination. The coastal scenery, birdlife and quietness certainly evoke a sense of being much further from Melbourne.

I've only just moved to the area.
I still drive to Dandenong daily to my job. An easy drive and I come home to Paradise!
Not touristy, beautiful environment, great walks on the beach and trails, fishing...yep :). This area won't be a best kept secret for much longer... I've finally found my paradise...

Come down and have a look and see for yourself, The Coastal views are amazing, the town has hardly been developed as its been overlooked for so many years as people just drive by on their way to Phillip Island looking for a coastal haven and don't realise they have just driven past the jewel of the Western Port region, Corinella enjoys a warmer average temperature due to being surrounded on three sides by the waters of Western Port bay, the warmer water temperature keeps the winters frosts away and keeps the climate in Corinella milder than the ocean facing Phillip Island. Corinella is a very large rural district beginning on the Bass Highway and reaching around the coast line from Queens Ferry road, and completely surrounding the small town of Tenby Point, and then stretching many kilometers of rural farmland down to Norsemans road at Coronet Bay, but finally culminating in the small township zoned area on the Peninsula of land that is where the Historic 1826 settled town of Corinella first began and the birthplace of Victoria. Corinella is almost the only place on Victoria's coastline that is not declared a risk from climate change, this is due to its higher elevation. If you want an unhurried lifestyle without compromising on normal township services and want to be surrounded by nature at it's best, Corinella is for you. Corinella is a surprising little oasis of tranquility on the peaceful eastern shore of Westernport. It has water views to the north, west and south, abundant birdlife and great fishing, either from the jetty or offshore. The coastline is a mixture of small secret beaches, rocky outcrops and mangroves - the latter providing a haven for various forms of sealife. It is also an historic spot as one of Victoria's very first settlements. Corinella has not yet been "discovered". Tourists rush past to Phillip Island or the south coast, not bothering to take the few km drive off the beaten track. Those that do find a peaceful, friendly spot for permanent living or holidays. We love it!
