Reviews of Coronet Bay, VIC

"Great Little Town- friendly people."

Lovely town with one of the nicest beaches in the area, the beach and foreshore are a credit to Coronet Bay with facilities to cater for just about everybody from play equipment for the kids, launch facilities for the boats and public toilets. Houses are overall relatively quite cheap and make for either a great holiday home spot or as a lot of people are now discovering great for a permanent home. Nice and quiet as its off the main highway. Coronet Bay has a rather well stocked general store at this time, hopefully as the town grows a bit more a few more shops will open up. However, shopping at Grantville, San Remo and Wonthaggi is not far away. One of my favourite places in Bass Coast, lets hope it does not get ruined by being over developed.

Great for

  • Cheap rent or buying
  • Quiet, easy life
  • Wonderful bay beach

Not great for

  • Needs more shops, maybe fish n chips too

sadly Coronet Bay IS under threat of being over developed by a massive holiday resort with function centres that can accommodate up to 800 people in peak times. Traffic volume is predicted to increase up to 900 traffic movements daily...all this to accommodate the Chinese tourist. so the quiet, easy life, beautiful little beach (which will not accommodate hundreds of people in peak times) and sleepy getaway from the big city is quite possibly going to disappear. Whilst development may be a natural progression, this proposal will certainly not fit into what Coronet Bay is or the reason people go there. Local flora, fauna and residents will be impacted and not all for the better. If you've experienced Coronet Bay and love it for what it is now, please lodge an objection to the Bass Coast Shire Council before 26 November 2019. The proposed development is on their website.

"A great place to live"

Coronet Bay is an evolving place, changing from a predominantly holiday house to a mini boom of new built houses to buy or rent, for permanent residents. And as people come, so will services and shops. Coronet Bay is probably not very well known, but has one of the most wonderful beaches I've ever seen. It's different every day, and every season. It's great for walking, swimming, kids and dogs, and has a launch for small boats. The people are very friendly and caring and helpful without being nosy. The houses coming up are cheap and the rent is incredibly so. Families get a good primary school and preschool. Creative activities abound on Bass Coast, as do wineries and interesting food, so adults are well covered too. There are a lot of retirees and the town is easy to walk. Shopping could improve, but there's a good amount in nearby Grantville and San Remo (about 20 mins away). The highway is not near the town (which keeps it quiet) but once you're on it, it's an easy drive to Wonthaggi etc or towards Melbourne, eg Cranbourne, Narre Warren etc. It's surrounded by farm land (easy on the eye) and not far from some nice bush bits.

"Victoria's Best Kept Secret????"

Picturesque town with a fantastic safe swimming beach on Westernport Bay. Looks over to Phillip Island, Mornington Peninsula & French Island. Easy drive 1 1/2 from Melbourne via Monash Freeway and South Gippsland Highway, road currently being upgraded to four lane highway so access will get even better. Close to Phillip Island and the beautiful Bass Coast coastline & waterways. Inverloch 1/2 hour away and the beautiful South Gippsland hills surround. Great markets around the area, good pubs, fabulous italian owned cafes/restaurant, country races at Woolamai, even a 'Curry House' in the middle of a paddock!! Great wineries are everywhere - what more do you want!!?? But please - don't tell anyone.
