"Peaceful and safe suburb"

I enjoy renting in Cranbourne. It's very close to public transport with a train station only a 5 minute walk away that takes you all the way into the city. The Government are also upgrading the train so that soon it will take you all the way to the airport without needing to change trains or take a bus, which will be huge for anyone living in or around Cranbourne. It's a peaceful and safe place to live with lots of things to do in and around the suburb on the weekends.

Cranbourne has everything you could need in a suburb. Pretty happy with all of the services available and with the neighbourhood. We live in the heart of 'old' Cranbourne and love it here, it's so quiet and peaceful and the people are really nice.

"Highly recommend"

Highly recommend buying a house in Cranbourne. Our house price has skyrocketed in the last 3 years and continues to increase. They have built numerous new developments, shops, restaurants, cafes etc. It's only going to continue to grow from here. Soon the next affordable suburbs will be further and further out of the city.

"Good quality"

Good quality neighbourhood. I used to be ashamed of living here due to how people used to talk about it. But with the house prices increasing and all the new families, couples and singles moving in it's really changed the heart of Cranbourne. I can't believe just how much it's improved over the last 5 years.

"Safe and friendly community"

Cranbourne is a very safe and family friendly community. I moved into the area a number of years ago now and only have good things to say about the suburb. We live in the 'old' part of Cranbourne and really enjoy living here. There are so many new shops around and the local schools have seen numerous updates as well with all new amenities. Our kids love it here too and have a great circle of friends.

"Great suburb"

Started renting here 8 years ago and I enjoy living here. The suburb has come such a long way since I first moved in. Can't believe how many new restaurants (Amstel is my favourite), cafes, and stores have gone in over the last 8 years. There has also been a lot of upgrades to schools, public transport, roads, Cranbourne Park Shopping Centre and Cranbourne HomeCo. (two major shopping complexes with all the stores you could ever need in the one suburb). It is a suburb with a lot to offer nowadays. Proud to be a Cranbournian.

"A place to call home"

Cranbourne is a lovely, quiet suburb. During COVID and due to the high interest rates all of the rif raff moved out of the centre of Cranbourne which is fantastic! So many lovely people moved in and the suburb has lifted substantially, away from it's old reputation.

I thought it was an interesting fact that new ABS statistics say that Cranbourne is the fastest growing suburb in the whole country! Definitely a great investment for property.

The level crossing removal is almost complete and numerous roads are in the process of being upgraded which makes road works annoying in the interim, but it will have a great long-term impact. So many new amenities and businesses going in around the suburb so everything is getting a face lift. Lots of new parks, shops, homewares stores, race track, restaurants, bars, gyms, grocery stores, schools, lots of public transport etc.

"Lovely place to live"

We love living in Cranbourne. I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. It has come a very long way as a suburb compared to when it used to get called crimbourne. We have lived here for a few years now with no issues whatsoever. We love our little community, it's quiet, people are friendly, it feels safe, good range of places to eat and visit, good schools, lots of shops, and public transport is so accessible. Above all, house prices have soared!

"Great little suburb, highly recommend."

We bought our first home in Cranbourne at the beginning of 2021 and are really enjoying living here. The people are nice, it feels safe at night walking around, decent local schools, huge Botanic Gardens which are beautiful to walk around, racecourse, some great restaurants, golf courses, a few big shopping centres and more. Great growth suburb! The value of our house has already risen substantially in only a short amount of time. Looking forward to raising our kids here.

"A quiet suburb with a lot to offer and great long-term investment."

Pros: We moved to Cranbourne 6 months ago and are really happy here. The people are really friendly (suburbia), it's got a number of great amenities with local grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, parks, massive Cranbourne Home centre with lots of shops etc. Close to the train station so it's easy access to the city for work. Once they extend the train line to go straight to the airport, Cranbourne will be an even more popular suburb to live in as it will be even more accessible to everything. It's great that they are also doing the level crossing removal at Cranbourne train station. Great family friendly area that has a good mix of younger couples, couples with kids, and older adults. Great long-term investment.

Cons: The roads can use some upgrading as it's getting busier and traffic will start building up with more people moving into the area. There is a bit of rubbish on the side of the road on the main street, council could do more in cleaning up the neighbourhood.

"ACCESSIBLE LOCATION!"

Some people may known Cranbourne as"Crimebourne" which doesnt make sense. There are heaps of Suburbs in Melbourne with highest crime rate. Why they always gave Cranbourne a bad name where they didnt see the other good side why you wanted to live in Cranbourne. Shopping centres, amenities, TAFE, Chisolm, Grammar Schools, Clean air, close to the beach, Public transpo, The well known-Australian Botanic Garden, Racecourse and friendly environment. I'd like to make a campaign to improve the name of "Cranbourne" by using the social media platform to recognise the suburb. Once this Suburb improve, housing price may rock up to the roof.

"Great friendly country town feel with city ammenities"

I bought in Cranboune East in 2013 and my house has soared in value. Over 150 in 6 years!I think the demographic is no worse than anywhere else. I love my neighbours side back over the road. How many people can say that?
It’s definitely worth living out here for the family friendly atmosphere. Medical facilities are also in abundance with a public hospital very close.
“The lucky city” and people know it as we are central . 25 minutes to the beach 25 minutes on the train to the city or around 40 minutes drive
And 45 minutes from Phillip island.
Overall a peaceful understated and under rated City.

"Under rated town"

I recon Cranbourne has improved so much in the past 2-3 years. The new housing developments surrounding cranbourne attracted good people with young families and Cranbourne is smack bang in the centre of all this. The new mall development is great too. It’s not near melbourne city but the train line is very convenient and good. I hope that in time there will be more ‘cool’ cafes and nightlife activities for younger people. It’s definitely looking better each day and Cranbourne is a far cry from the backwards place it might have been 10-15 years ago.

"Improving Greatly"

I have been living in Cranbourne for 12 years now and it wanted to leave almost immediately. However, the suburb has really stepped up its game. The new Shopping Centre is brilliant. There's a woolies, Coles, Target and Kmart and now there's also a JB and so many fashion stores, as before it was lacking so many of these. Even the streets are calmer and cleaner and so are the parks. So many food options now around the suburb and not many suburbs can claim to have a world class sporting facility as what Casey Indoor Sports Centre and Casey Fields are right now. Not to mention the botanical garden, horse and dog track.

However, the nightlife is still a big let down and the main High Street can use a bit of upgrade.

Great for

  • Sporting Facilities
  • Large Police Station
  • Cranbourne Station got a big upgrade too
  • Affordable housing
  • Botanic Gardens
  • Good retail
  • Proximity to beaches and Melbourne

Not great for

  • Hoon Drivers are a big problem
  • Hoon drivers
  • Less than perfect transport system
  • Delinquent children
  • Noise and parties

"Could be so much better"

I have lived in Cranbourne West from 2003 and since then have seen good and bad over the years. I have found that more and more of the nice friendly 1st home buyers (owner occupiers) in this area have moved on and more investors have come into the area. This seems to have attracted a different demographic. Meaning more very low income people or unemployed with no prospects of home ownership and as such seem to take no community pride in the street scape from which they live. In some areas (not all), ample street parking has been provided yet people choose to park their cars, trucks, boats, caravans, trailers out on the nature strips or front muddy lawns, providing the point of least resistance to their front doors!! . The proliferation of vehicles onto council land is unreal. Add to this no pride in their dwellings such as overgrown gardens, high grasses, muddy nature strips due to vehicle parking and household hard waste left on nature strips for weeks on end. The parties and loud noise by some in the Central Parkway area is typical, just no common respect for others.. If people could show some pride and respect for their homes, themselves and their neighbours it would be a great place to live. So geographically it is a good place to live, demographically not so good.. But we can always hope.......

Great for

  • Proximity to beaches and Melbourne
  • Good retail
  • Affordable housing
  • Botanic Gardens

Not great for

  • Noise and parties
  • Delinquent children
  • No community spirit, pride
  • Hoon drivers
  • Needs a cinema and a Target

"Great suburb with everything you need"

Cranbourne is an evergrowing suburb, with a new estate seeming to pop up everyday! The new estates are helping bring more and more people to Cranbourne, which is crating the need for more amenities.

Cranbourne has plenty of sporting options, with Casey RACE (gym and aquatics centre), Casey Fields (Althletics, tennis, rugby, football, cricket, cycling).

It's pretty easy to park at most times of the day. Recently traffic has become an issue in certain parts of Cranbourne (peak hour problems exist on the South Gipsland Highway, Thompsons Road and Hall Road) but when compared to traffic problems in other areas they are pretty tame.

Housing is well priced and of a pretty high standard, a large percentage of homes have been fairy recently built and it is really just the centre of Cranbourne which has the old houses (there are a fair amount of renovations going on).

I would suggest Cranbourne for many types of people/families. It is suitable for anyone who wants to escape the city without missing out on any amenities.

Cranbourne has a lot of cons but on the positive side it is reasonably safe and the people are generally friendly.

Cranbourne would be better if it had better amenities and services, especially restaurants, cafes and alternative medicine. The public transport is also woeful. Locals need to start taking action to get much better amenities and services rather than just complaining all the time!

"Home of the Beautiful Australian Garden and the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne"

I have lived here for 10 years and am very satisfied with the area. Even though the area has grown in population, there is still a sense of community, especially if you have younger children. People are generally down to earth and friendly and wonderful friendships have been formed. There are some aspects of the area that are unsavoury, but that happens anywhere and Cranbourne is no exception really. There are plenty of sporting facilities and we have the most amazing Botanic Gardens in the area, something that Cranbourne really need to showcase and brag about. It is amazing that so many residents in this suburb even know that these wonderful gardens even exist! All in all I have been very happy living down here, finding local employment and making some wonderful friends. :)

"Lived in Cranbourne for years"

Cranbourne is great for families with kids, there are so many schools, primary and secondary and loads of parks and ovals. It's very geared towards a family who enjoys sport with the leisure centre, casey fields, hockey, soccer, new aquatic centre, horse and dog races and even a few golf courses.

There's a lot of local shopping centres popping up even in the middle of the estates, so getting food for the evening meal is always easy and hassle free. Cranbourne also has the larger Centro Shopping centre with many shops including coles, k-mart and woolworths, best and less and several surf shops.

A lot of the houses are small and low-income earning. Most of the houses that were built years ago are now rental properties with rowdy tennants and higher crime rates.

Newer estates aren't really experiencing this and are generally occupied by older couples and retirees as the house sizes are larger and more expensive than in older areas.

Large overhead powerlines run through Cranbourne.

Safer than Noble Park, Dandenong, Doveton... But not as nice as Berwick and Pakenham. In the middle.
