Dapto, NSW 2530

We moved here not long ago, our home was affordable and has increased in value since we purchased. we live on a tree line street, all with large blocks of land. My street is lovely, but many others in the suburb are a bit iffy. The suburb is being gentrified as young families move in and renovate etc.

Have lived here for a long time. Its a great family friendly suburb that continues to expand. While the shopping centre is on the smaller side. There is a Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, and Big W. Lots of good schools for the kids. And is famously known for the Dapto dogs racing. There is bus and train transport, a local leagues club. The beautiful escarpment can be seen from many areas.

I moved down to Dapto from The Shire. Best thing I have ever done.
People smile and say hello, the scenery and lifestyle is incredible And made for the outdoors.
Ten minutes from the ocean, lake, mountains and the city.

Don’t really know why people are putting so much hate on dapto, but I’ve lived here for as long as I can remember and this place is great! I do know it could be because I probably just got used to the environment here but it really is nice (as long as your neighbours aren’t crazy and litterally always loud).

Dapto is a lovely place to live. There are lots of shops and cafes in the Mall and also out on the streets with plenty of public transport ie buses and a main train line. It’s a very safe area with lots of new housing estates bringing young professionals and families to the suburb. Kids have access to great schools and there is a huge medical centre right in the middle of town. There are several sporting grounds, swim schools, a library, community centres offering martial arts, yoga, mums and bubs classses and much more. I have lived here for many years and definitely prefer the Dapto area over Wollongong, Berkeley/ Warrawong or even South like Albion Park or Shellharbour it’s much more peaceful and definitely a safer place to live :)

I have lived in Dapto two years now big mistake so much rubbish in the lake & streets very lazy people. I have never lived in a place were there were so many Binds in the grasses just to walk the dog is a challenge Dapto is all about food everywhere fast food but not much else no movie theatre witch I thought was sad because unless you want to spend your time in the club pub or mall not much else. try & not sleep in a 5k of the train station because you won't get much sleep with the train blowing its comings & going. if I Could move I would but sadly this is it.

Dapto is the worse place I have ever lived ..... don't move here!!

Dapto is an affordable suburb in the Illawarra, that has a proud tradition of a being blue collar area that looks out for each other. There are many sporting hero's that cut their teeth in the competitive junior grades of all sports the area has to offer. Famous for the "Dapto Dogs" (greyhound racing) the area also has a proud tradition of looking out for each other, with a genuine sense of community spirit. The Dapto Markets and Show are community highlights. A growing area with great amounts of land still undeveloped, it is a city in the making

Dapto is south of Sydney and is situation on the western side of lake Illawarra Dapto is not far from Wollongong and some great beaches of the south coast. Dapto was mainly a farming area until a few years ago but has now become a more residential area. Probably best known for ground racing the Dapto Dogs are held regularly and attract good crowds and are well supported by punters. There are good shopping facilities at Dapto mall and other selected shops and accommodation includes caravan and camping parks with plenty of facilities, hotels and motels as well as guest houses and holiday apartments. There are plenty of national parks in the area for those who like to explore and some stunning views of the area to be had from several lookouts and vantage points.
