Reviews of Darlington, WA

"Hidden Gem"

Most blocks are a half an acre and full of trees which gives the suburb a lovely park like ambience. Surrounded on all sides by nature reserves with many trails. The people are very polite and well mannered and that includes all age groups. Its like a hideaway in the hills but only 30 minutes from the center of Perth.

"A wonderful, quiet little suburb in the hills"

We moved here 12 months ago and couldn’t be happier. Such a beautiful place and a strong sense of community.
The wildflowers at this of year are stunning and the hills are full of colour.
There are many walking trails to explore.
It feels more like living down south than in Perth but is 30 mins from the City. Pity the beach isn’t closer but that’s the only downside for us!

"A hidden gem"

Darlington is a beautiful suburb with plenty of trees and wildlife. Its friendly, charming and peaceful.
If you enjoy living amongst trees and nature you will love it.

It is picturesque and dreamy compared to suburbia IMO.

"Just wonderful!"

We moved from the suburbs to the hills about 4 years ago and we have never been happier. Our kids, 8 and 2 years old, adore it with trees to climb, room to run and play and nature on their doorstep. Our half acre block has more than enough room for a pool, cubby house and pets. The lack of a local shopping centre is one negative, but with easy access to both Midland and Mundaring plus a local deli/bakery this not a big deal. The suburb could use more footpaths. Good access to public, private and christian schools. Excellent community spirit. We have moved a lot in the past fifteen years or so and this is the first place that we have ever wanted to put down roots. We love it and are in for the long haul!

We are looking to relocate to Darlington. Your comments have been very helpful. However the quality rentals available are so few that we are struggling. :(

"village lifestyle"

it is a great little place. Plenty of trees, wildlife and a walking track alongside the creek. The hills are very steep, so it can be tricky to find flat space for the kids to learn to cycle or for our annual Easter Sunday egg rolling street party. The local government school is great, or you can spend your money on the 5 private fee paying schools in the area. It isn't so good for high schools, so book a place in one of the fee paying high schools ASAP!
St Cuthbert's church is a beautiful and tiny stone church, worth a visit by itself.
Don't forget to stroll along to the Darlington oval, watch the cricket/footie game, pop into the Darlinton Hall for music and art, then enjoy a delicious evening meal at the Darlington Estate winery.

The Darlington residents avidly read the "Review" for the latest in village news and opinions. The letters to the editor are a treat! The community spirit can be most easily seen during the Darlington Festival weekend, when almost everyone gets involved - one way or another.

Rentals in Darlington

"Bush paradise in the city"

Only 30 mins to Perth city, it is a well kept secret that you can have a rural lifestyle so close to the city. We've lived here for a few years, have small children and we not only know all our neighbours, we actually like them all. It is like living in a country town. There is a huge amount of community spirit, you can grow your own fruit and vegetables on the larger land size, and people out walking will stop and chat to you, not just pass you by. It is a beautiful place to live and I can highly recommend it. We look forward to watching our children grow here.

Hi, thanks so much for your comments. We are also looking at relocating with our young family. What do you make of the schools in the area?
