Diggers Rest, VIC 3427

I have lived in and around the western suburbs of Melbourne for my entire life and never considered living in diggers rest. This was mainly due to the misconception that it was far away. Ive lived here for a little over year now and honestly wouldnt live anywhere else. Its a 30 min drive to the city via citylink, maybe quicker if you have a good run and 15 minutes to the airport. The community and neighbours are unbelievable, happy to lend a hand and say hello, im yet to have a bad experience! Its been the most relaxing and peaceful year of my life and only 5-10 minutes further out compared to suburbs that cost twice as much to buy.

If you want to live close to the city but still have that country feel, then Diggers Rest is for you. Its a great place to live with not much passing traffic so is very quiet at night. You can walk down the street and feel perfectly safe. As the area is relatively flat, it is great for walking the dogs or just for a casual stroll.
The nearest shopping centre in Sunbury is about 10 minutes away with easy access now that the road into Sunbury has been widened and is now complete. Watergardens Shopping Centre is also not very far away.
There are a couple of local shops such as milk bar and fish and chip shop and there is talk of a shopping centre in Diggers Rest to be built some time in the future which would no doubt boost property prices. The train line is to be upgraded to the Metro system rather than V-Line so there will be more frequent trains operating. There is also a regular bus service.
All in all it is a great place to live.
