"Nice!"

People are genuinely far nicer than people in Nhill. The people at Iga are great.

Looking for a home in Dimboola?

"A town of Good ol family traditions."

Several years ago, approx 2000. My wife and i drove into Dimboola around 1pm, We were shocked that the youth actually wave hello, Wow!!
We now have lived here in Dimboola for 2years and we would not change for anything, i found it so easy to get employment and my wife also secured a great local job.
Most of the business people are fantastic, which is rare these days, but the relaxed attitude here is very welcome.
The schools are so good and i can say that with honesty. Shopping restricted but Horsham is 25 min away and you have all the shops you need then.
We need a good pub that has nice meals tho, only 1 pub left here now, the other burnt down.
Safe area and real good for children, Great football club and great tennis courts, rowing club top notch too.
Really its just a great place to be.

Great for

  • Weather Geat!!
  • Police great
  • People great
  • Cheap rentals
  • Neighbourly Spirit
  • Peace and quiet

Not great for

  • Petrol prices usually stable within a cent of horsham
  • Shopping was very limited

If loke the other residents you keep shopping in Horsham you will have no town..at all....
Because of the lack of buy local and support local bussinesses that support the schools footy clubs golf club bowls club are now on the brink of closing

Currently you have no
* Green Growcer
* shoe shop
* Car dealerships

The following bussiness are up for sale
* 1 crap Pub 4 owners in 5 years
* 1 big bank only open 4 hours a day
* a council that spends rate payers money in Nhill (* mill for a new town hall)
* Bakery
* Butcher shop
* News agent

When these close because you have no buyers, enjoy the High Prices of the IGA and the 80km round trip to Horsham, whith the price of fuel rising becasue of the Carbon Tax.

Yes DUMBOOLA is a good place aslong as you dont want local businesses, cant see horsham business supporting the schools and sporting clubs when they have Horsham based ones to support.

Wake up your town is dying and it is people like you contributing to its demise...

Agree to this. I would prefer a separate butchers, fruit and veg store and fair prices. Nhill had a good butcher and new little supermarket, both shut down and used as residence while iga's rip people off

"A Small Town - A Sleepy Hollow"

I lived there for 2 years. Very peaceful and quiet, never locked my car up, went to sleep at night with a security door shut, with the front door open. Blocks are quite spacious and most houses set into the middle of the block. Police station only shuts during the lunch break and after about 6pm. You have a number to ring and the coppers will get back to you. Neighbours will call police if they are concerned about you. Only 2 pubs, 1 petrol station, hairdresser, an IGA shop to get your top ups. I did most of my shopping in Horsham, and used IGA for the run out of things. Post Office, Newsagents, and the Fish and Chip Shop still does Mars bars in batter. Harvey does a great job with the fish n chips. Most of the shop owners know your name. I watched the river dry up and fill back up again. Most places shut at 5pm. Dimboola Memorial College is a great school. Great walk along and around the river.

Great for

  • Peace and quiet
  • Neighbourly Spirit
  • Cheap rentals

Not great for

  • Petrol prices were higher
  • Shopping was very limited

Another idiot that can not see the trees for the forest..

Support you local business, go up the main street to buy you bread meat and newspaper, not the IGA or Horesham and you might have a town in 5 years.....

The town is still here and going strong! Still have the bakery men's land 2 big banks pharmacy 2 fish shops one Asian food van and even a cafe plus more stores because contrary to your dumb belief people who do a majority of their big shop in horsham still spend money and support in their own town!

"sweet little town"

I stayed in Dimboola for a few months, its a safe, friendly town but desperately needs an eatery ...

pub food was way below average... and the local fish n chip shop was below average..

the butcher was very good and the supermarket is reasonably good .. could get most things i was use to getting in melbourne.

School facilities are really good... and the medical clinic and doc are gr8.

Plenty to do if you're into sport but if u like shopping its horsham melb or adelaide .. just as well they aren't that far away hey...

local shire are w#%&@*s, so look out if u want to build!

looked at a few vacant blocks near the river with the intention of building but found they were in flood zones.. discovered my insurers dont like insuring houses built on flood zoned blocks .. painful.. unless u build approx 1 meter off the ground blah blah blah..... fine if u like dragging shopping up steps .. not!

love the traditional victorian homes but good ones are few and far between

seen a few roos ....kids loved that.. river is full so skiing was all the go
overall is a lovely place to live ..

People are very sweet and friendly, very community conscious

and they have a community xmas party in the main street was really nice.... gr8 band and santa gave the kids lollies etc lions club put on a BBQ was very nice!

"An idyllic retirement setting for two former professionals."

This property is completely us. We are in our 60's and presently own 10 acres on the Rocky River in SA house constructed in 1870 stone and pug, very traditional, circular drive, rose gardens mature native trees etc. Lots of shedding and a workshop. We also own a commercial building in the centre of Laura where we operate a newsagency and an electrical shop. Looking to retire without sacrificing tranquility. We have only just put the paperwork together to list for sale and need to sell before we purchase. Just running through the options on the web the Dimboola property is outstanding value for our needs. RL & CM Hanley, Laura, SA

Rentals in Dimboola

"emus, alpacas and and a few olives"

On the train line from Adelaide to Melbourne, and access by coaches running between the two cities it is easy to get here and cheap.
There are a good range of shops to get what you need around town, including banks, however those out of the ordinary items you’ll probably need to head to a larger centre.
I like Dimboola, it has a nice feel to it and is a reasonably attractive town with friendly people.
There are schools in town which is great for families saving the trip over to Horsham but you may need to go there regularly anyway.
There is a good chance you’ll catch site of an emu or kangaroo in Dimboola which can be a real plus for many, especially those with young children.
