Reviews of Dunkeld, VIC

"Dunkeld is gorgeous"

beautiful town full of nice people and plenty of space and recreations for children, hobbies, adults etc. it is a quiet and peaceful place with nature and wildlife in abundance. it is also close to Warrnambool and the beach. it has the equal top racecourse in Victoria. a lovely swimming pool and park with Dunkeld is a wonderful place to raise children or relax with a partner. every year for as long as I can remember, my family and I have gone to Dunkeld to visit our grandparents we always got ice cream, went to the pool, played in the park and hiking. the locals were very friendly and welcoming and made Dunkeld feel like my home. when Christmas came around Santa clause would drive around on a firetruck and give lollies to kids. these are the memories I treasure.

Great for

  • Primary school, cafe, park, pool, quiet, race coarse, mountains, rural and plenty more.

"South of the Grampians in lovely country"

I stayed here while travelling around in the Grampians and it was wonderfully peaceful and tranquil. It provided a great launch pad for driving through the Grampians and visiting the sights. It is only a small town and so there isn’t a lot around. We visited Halls Gap to buy what we needed while we were there as it didn’t seem to be available in Dunkeld. but even then you are only going to be able to get limited supplies. It is likely you'll have to go on the Stawell or Ararat for any real shopping.
It was beautiful country and would make a good spot for a tree change if you are a fan of the Grampians. Being out of the standard tourist destination and a bit out of the way it would be quieter than Halls Gap.But there are no schools without travelling to Stawell or Ararat and no restaurants to speak of. Its an area where singles and couples looking for party time are going to have a hard time.
