Elgin Street, Gordon, NSW 2072

The top end of Elgin Street is close to the local primary school and is just a short walk to a park, tennis courts, scout hall, train and shops. As you walk down Elgin Street, it becomes narrower and leafier, until you would think that you are walking along a country lane, one hundred miles from the city. At the end of the street is a playground and oval, where the local community socialises. Weekend soccer games, family picnics, morning exercise and dog walkers are all part of the daily scene. People who live in Elgin Street wake to the sounds of kookaburras, and now and then, we see echidnas. The area is crime-free and people walk around quite happily, any time of the day or night, knowing that they are safe. This part of Gordon is very family-friendly, quiet and peaceful, and it is easy to forget that you are only a thirty minute train ride from the centre of Sydney. Elgin Street is a little piece of paradise.
