Reviews of Enmore, NSW

"Enmore is a great place to live"

I have lived in Enmore for over 10 years and love it, I will never leave. I have lived in Neutral Bay, Surry Hills, Rozelle, Glebe, Newtown and Wolloomooloo and Enmore is by far the most convenient location with load of great pubs, beer gardens and bistro's and a really easy going friendly vibe. It is like a secret part of Newtown that is loved by the locals and mostly undiscovered by tourists.

Looking for a home in Enmore?

"A small suburb with a village atmosphere....in a fantastic location!"

Enmore is a fantastic suburb for singles, couples or for raising a family. It is a very inclusive enviroment and has the convenience of King St and Enmore Rd just moments away. Enmore is in the catchment of great schools such as Newtown Public School, Stanmore Public School and Newtown High School of Performing Arts. It also has a number of new wine bars that have opened up over the past two years. On Enmore Rd you can go out for dinner and have Indian, Turkish, Mexican, African, Greek, Thai, Japanese, Peruvian, American, TexMex, Chinese, Vietnamese and Italian.....just to name a few.....

Great for

  • Convenience, Enmore it is a hidden gem with a bakery and IGA on Enmore Rd that open every day of the year, so you can get fresh sourdough and coffee even on Christmas morning.
  • Location, you have everything on your doorstep...restaurants, cafes, bars etc without the congestion of Newtown
  • Community - it is a really friendly community where you get to know your neighbours.

Not great for

  • More people are discovering Enmore, so property is gettimg more and more expensive...

"Possibly the worst place in the Inner-west."

Enmore has got to be one of the worst suburbs in the Inner-west. More than half of its residents seem to be beggars (you can't even have a coffee without being intimidated by half a dozen nasties - guaranteed). Not much happens here, in a bad kinda way. Most houses look pretty run down, streets look pretty bad too. Enmore theatre brings in a lot of people every now and then, but no one hangs around after the show - proof that Enmore has nothing. There are a few good cafes but that's pretty much it. But again, people are what make the area - Enmore seems to have too many of the wrong type. The main drag is lined with brothels and second-hand clothing type shops.

"Coolest secret place to live in Sydney"

Having travelled to most world class cities, coming home to Enmore is fantastic. You can walk to just about everything- King St is just minutes away, but lesser known Enmore Rd has such great places to eat and even cheaper. Transport is unmatched, and people in our street are very friendly. We see our neighbours socially, and the local shops know our orders when we walk in! There is always something new to look at nearby, and just taking a walk in our neighbourhood is relaxing and interesting. If we found a neighbourhood like this in another country we would think it was the best place ever, and we already live here!

"Enmore's Best Street"

Enmore is fabulous!! And Metropolitan Road is the best street in Enmore. A quick walk to Newtown and all the good stuff it offers but without all the visitors. Fabulous restaurants such as Faheem's (definitely Sydney's best Tandoori but definitely not Sydney's best decor) and Emma's on Liberty plus some wonderful (and kid friendly) pubs (The Golden Barley and The Warren View make eating and drinking a joy. Close to transport and a great IGA supermarket is a walk away. Plus Enmore Park, the Olympic Pool, Enmore Theatre and a dead end street! A great place to be.
