"8 hour drive to the beach"

After 30 years of saying we need to go to Esperance, was the wait worth it….NO!
Firstly I’d like to say that the beaches were amazing, by far some of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
As for the town well during this Long weekend break and the most boring drive to get there, the disappointment of having probably 96% of the town closed was a shock!
We came to not only a swim ( I can do that here in Perth)
But also to shop, and see see other things but the town decided it was easier to close almost everything whilst packed with tourist!
We had almost nowhere to spen our money besides IGA 🤣🤣🤣
Not acceptable people, learn more about tourism … you won’t find this in Phuket or Bali, where the locals are actually glad to welcome you.
Anyway ticked off the bucket list, won’t visit again or recommend anyone going that far for a beach!

"Beaches!"

There are so many amazing beaches here its not funny. Water is always cold but so clear and fresh. Fishing, swimming, surfing, snorkling, sunbathing. Dog friendly. Find a nice place to camp up! Great skatepark and pumptrack on the beach. Best coffee and lots of coffee shops/carts! Even though the town itself is surrounded by beaches it hasn't got a beachy vibe. A cramped little town. Town always too busy for the size but beaches hardly ever busy with people. Hard to find a rental.

"Amazing beaches make this town"

Been living here for a few months. Just a small rural town, interesting vibe, laid back but then there is a weird attitude with some locals, it feels like theyve never been anywhere else before and can be quietly judgmental, also the town has big potential but is held back by the council/shire and some locals that wont look ahead, and the decisions being made for the town doesnt make sense. Its a busy little place which needs the space around town utilised much better. I had to mention this because its a huge part that makes up the town. But anyway besides this you can really make this place home, for the most part people r very lovely and friendly. Your pretty free here and its quite relaxed when on the road too just watch out for kids and people not indicating. Cool skatepark on the beach with plenty of the most amazing beaches ive ever experienced right here in town and short drives and bike rides from town. Very dog friendly with doggy bags for use all along the beach. Lots of grass areas all well maintained. Good gyms. Aquatic centre is great in winter, the pools are warm, spa and sauna. People say its great fishing. Surfers r out most days. Ive been told its an amazing vibe in summer when all the backpackers and holiday makers come, which probably gives the town a boost of positive energy. If you live here its not great shopping prob buy most things online as the bigger towns r at least 4 hrs drive away. Overall we love this place, i can see anyone fittng in here and making it there own.

"Small town with some not all having a bad attitude"

People start swearing saying disgusting words because they have to wait in line at Woolworths. I find a lot of people have a attitude which stinks and with the ones around town that don't care about anyone else when there driving or walking is pathetic.😠😠😠

Rentals in Esperance

"Growing Community with great amenities"

Esperance is a beautiful town on the southern coast of Western Australia which was often home to sealers and whaling ships. The area is rich in history and you could spend many ours looking at historical site and information. Esperance boasts some beautiful beaches with swimming and surfing popular and is well serviced by bus and air as well as being as easy drive from the main highway at Kalgoorlie. Visit the Esperance Museum or take a drive along the Great ocean drive to see amazing scenery including the granite headlands, the Pink Lake and the Wind Farm which is used for generating electricity. Catch the panoramic views of the Recherche Archipelago from Rotary Lookout. Visit the cape Le Grand National Park and Cape Arid National Park where fishing, boating, bird watching etc can be enjoyed. Dogs are not permitted in the national parks and it pays to check with the local authorities regarding camping, etc. Home prices are steady in the area and rentals are of average price in this region. There is some great shopping in Esperence with many supermarkets dotted around the town as well as speciality shops and boutiques. There are pharmacies and medical centres, video shpos and travel agents etc. Educational facilities in Esperance include primary and secondary schools both state and private.

"A lovely pristine town bordering the Great Australian Bight."

Esperance is a town that often gets left out of people's travels because it is off the beaten track. It is small, pristine clean, the beaches are magnificent and with the whitest of sand.

If you are driving west you either have to drop down from Norseman some 200kms and then circle the coast around towards Perth, or you drive back up north and head across through Kalgoorlie. In saying all that, I do know retirees who have said that they would love to live there because it is such a lovely town.

Although it has a certain amount of tourism, it basically services the wheat, sheep, cattle farming, fishing and forestry industries. It has a port servicing these industries.

The famous Pink Lake is only a short distance out of town and is quite a stunning site at certain times of the day.
