Reviews of Ethelton, SA

"Sydney to Ethelton = perfection"

I lived in Sydney for 18 years after growing up in Seaton, SA. Before I moved back, I searched for 2 years looking for the right location and found a family sized block of 561 sqm for a very decent price (not any more though....). The area has exceeded my expectation. I knew the beach, semaphore cafes, harbour, lake and train line was on the doorstep but I didn't realise how genuine the community of Ethelton is. I knew I wouldn't regret moving here but I didn't realise how much of a home this area would become.

"Comfortable block sizes and a community feel"

A quiet suburb with beautiful big blocks, lots of trees and ovals/recreation facilities. Community feel and nestled between Port Adelaide and Semaphore you are always within walking distance of good restaurants and cafes. Access to public transport (bus and train) is handy for getting into the city and the Port River Expressway has made commuting to the northern suburbs very convenient.

"Ethelton- Easy Lifestyle..."

Ethelton offers a peaceful lifestyle only minutes from the beach. My favourite coffee shop in Adelaide "The Mill" is perfect for a catchup and coffee. Only 20 minutes from the CBD and shopping precincts close by. *** Star Recommendation

"Needs improvement"

Love the accessibility to the Port and Semaphore Road, the par 3 golf course and the 3 block walk to the beach (where we are bordering Semaphore South). This is a lower to middle area

Rentals in Ethelton

"Up and coming area"

My husband and I moved into Ethelton and have never had any problems. We live on a quiet street, great neighbours, the house is a century old bungalow and we are near a park, a terrific cafe and within 15 minutes walking distance between Port Adelaide or Semaphore Road. 2 blocks from the beach. Ethelton is a small area and borders Hart to the north, Bower Rd to the south, Swan Terrace to the west and the Causeway to the east. Decently priced homes with a lot of upside in the next few years.

"Love the area"

We moved into Ethelton near the Semaphore border and we couldn't be happier. Between Port Adelaide to Semaphore Road, the distance is about the same; 20 minute walk. Quiet and full of character -- and characters! Area is up and coming and we can walk to the beach in 12 minutes. Plenty of shopping within a 5 minute car drive.

"Good family area"

Ethelton is a good family suburb close to busier areas. Properties are mostly of a decent size (not like the modern dog-box, wall sharing devellopments) with plenty of trees around. A few good local pubs with dinning areas, nice bakery/coffee shop, and frienly local butcher with quality products. The train is 5-10 minutes walk, buses down the main streets, and easy access to Port Rd, Military Rd and Grand Junction Rd. The beach is 20 minutes walk, and several schools and childcare centres are in the area. Not much night life, but that is what the city is for. And who wants noisy clubs and neighbours next door anyway.
Internet is very fast in this area, but mobile reception can be reduced inside the typical double brick houses.
There is always a refreshing breeze this close to the coast.

"No comfort, peace and privacy"

Plenty of dogs barking at all hours of the day. We had two attempted home invasions, and people dumpng their rubbish on our property. Many friendly retirees, but unfortunately also some men you would not like ot meet in the dark, people on welfare with night-after-night parties, and alcoholics. ALSO: Cheap accommodation. Close to public trains. Close to the beach. Close to Port Adelaide shopping Center. Good for people on welfare who like it loud. Not suitable for families.
